Hello, who else adores writing? Hello Folks!  I'm Matamelcan as you can see.  I'm a mere youngling (turned 13 this year!)  I'm a novice at the art of writing, but I strive to better with a passion.
I write online as practice, while I slave over a 120k novel which was my first ever attempt at writing.  I've been writing 2 years now. Epic fantasy mixed in with dark and high is what I love, but i do try my hand at sci-fi and a dozen other genres.
I live in Canada, yes, I have slept in an igloo.  No, I have not met a polar bear.
I've been following Fantasy-Faction quite some time now, and I finally decided to join!  I hope to get acquainted and become friends with the great authors on this Forum!

Re: How much did you write today? 4500, still in progress.  Ugh, updating an old fanfic, doing my main novel, and writing a chapter in the detective story my writer's club is doing.
After doing a day of school and intense workouts.
Exhaustion sets in... but, the newbie raises again!

Re: Why do Swords Always Feature in Fantasy? Swords are regularly used by mercenaries and professional soldiers in most books.  Also swords were among the first weapons specifically created for war - virtually everything else was derived from tools. But I still groan whenever I see an 11 year old pick up a broadsword and defeat 5 elite swordsmen in their first day...

I am certain this will boost your sales to astronomical levels.  ;D

Re: Write Fantasy as if it is History

Darn it, my awesome meme won't work.

Well, I think it means write is as complex as history.  Trade routes, sanctions, ancient alliances, geographical locations shaping continents, cultures, cities, wars, and everything.
The world has to be living and breathing, as complex as our world, and vibrant as every shred of emerald grass. But, it has to have mystery, impossible places and buildings, and most of all...

Magic!

Re: Depression is a bitch... from a friend I may be younger and have experienced less then you seniors, but I've felt depression and still have it.  The feeling of never being good enough, wondering about the point of life and just trying to make it through the day is a horrible one.  Its led me into some dark places.

But then I began writing...

Nature sounds are excellent too.  Mixing them works fantastic, especially wind, waves, rain and streams.  You can mix others in if you wish, there's endless variety.

I've covered barely a millimeter of a vast world of music, and not even touched bands, or music with vocals, but I hope this helps you and brings you to the perfect music.  :)

Enjoy!

Update:  I fell asleep in my comfy chair listening to 'May It Be' by Enya.  Only 350ish words in. :(
