Re: Fantasy-Faction Facebook Group In my experience, it's the quick gratification of throwing a quick comment on facebook, whilst on their phone (probably sitting on the toilet) that waters down the content. They haven't got, or don't want to use their precious time to actually read a conversation thread, and just have to get their 2p in, regardless of whether 600 people have already said the same thing or not.

Not really new, but not been around! Hello everyone, I hope you're all in fine fettle this soggy and cold evening!

I originally signed up on the forum back in 2011, but never really got involved for some reason. Now, a few things in things in my life have changed since I signed up, but my reading has never changed!

I read mostly fantasy and sci-fi (obviously, or I wouldn't be here!) but also the odd bit of horror, and a few thrillers.

Hopefully, I'll stick around a bit more this time, and get to know you all! ;D

If you want some idea of my reading and book buying habits, feel free to look me up on Instagram Instagram or Goodreads.

Re: Gothic Horror Fantasy The first that spring to mind from my shelves, is the Noble Dead series by Barb & JC Hendee.

I'm sure they are plenty of others, but most of my classic monster/supernatural books seem to be urban fantasy.

Re: Re: Miscellaneous Musings about Books
A lot?  ;)

You really can't stuff it all in else it'd be too difficult to move and would rip bottoms off. I'd say about 15-20 medium boxes.
A lot is as far as I've got!

When we moved in here, I had 13 archive boxes, of mostly paperbacks. That filled 2 and a bit bookcases (had to buy a 3rd). I've doubled the bookcases, and have more hardbacks and slipcased editions now. This is going to take some organising!

Depends how strong the person moving them is. About 40/50 paperbacks was the amount I'd put in a box before remembering I had to pick the damn thing up. I dunno how much on a billy bookcase tho.

I gave away a lot of books when moving out from my parents. Like... I kinda feel a little down thinking about it. But then I'm probably emigrating relatively soon in my life, and that's a complete killer. If you're going to move, and then not move much for a while, keep your books.
Lots of small boxes. It's the number to get that I'm struggling on. IKEA do some small boxes, with a double layered bottom that should be good.

I'll have 2 people helping the move at least, one I know is pretty strong, provided his back doesn't go, and his gf should be strong - she plays rugby.

Re: Depression, Struggles and Light at the End of Every Tunnel Thank you. At least he only managed to keep the lies up for a couple of months before his guilty conscience got the better of him, and he had to confess. That was the end November, so it wasn't a great Christmas, New Year and birthday, but it is gradually getting better. I'm less likely to burst into tears at random songs on the radio than I was to start with at least!

I'm going to look into things to do at weekends, but I don't know what I want to do. And as much as I don't like being on my own, I don't like new people that much either, and find small talk excruciating even with people I do know! At least I've got my Monday to Friday 9-5 to get me out of the house.

I know I do want to get a rescue dog, for companionship, as well as getting me out and about, but I want to wait until I've got myself settled in a new house, and I know I can afford it.

Re: The King's Paws (with one holding a bottle of Peri Peri sauce.) Pfft, where is everyone? I can't be the only one who has nothing and no-one to do on a Friday night?

Re: The King's Paws (with one holding a bottle of Peri Peri sauce.) One of the good things about being an adult is that you know that you don't need an excuse for cake.

Re: The King's Paws (with one holding a bottle of Peri Peri sauce.) Dinner for tonight was meant to be an incredibly lazy affair of beans and cheese on toast. Technically the dinner was lazy, but I randomly ended up cleaning out the toaster of all its accumulated crumbs before I started.
