Re: The King's Paws (with one holding a bottle of Peri Peri sauce.)
@Nighteyes, we're still waiting for the photos ;)

I've just bought the plane ticket/booked hotel to go to the Algarve in September, I'm surprising my parents who will be there then!

Now I need to decide a place in Europe to go around June. I wanted to visit FF people, but I've visited Berlin just a couple of years ago, won't go visit @xiagan, and met @Henry Dale 4 years ago. I don't think there are more...
I'm undecided between going back to Amsterdam (after 18 years) or go to Munich. Or somewhere else... I like big cities with lots of museums, art galleries and a castle/palace or two, hehe (and I've been in almost all capitals already)

Well none of you wanted photos when I dressed as an Egyptian pharoah or a viking ...

Re: Fantasy Memes and silly stuff (about books) from the internet The latest Fantastic Beasts movies was a right mess: one of the many issues was that is completely messes up the continuity of the world.

Re: Doors of Stone by Patrick Rothfuss  No one bothered this year. Shows how implausible this book ever being released has become.

Re: Winds of Winter by George RR Martin Have we all made peace now with just getting a filmed ending not a book ending to this series?

Re: Black Leopard Red Wolf About 80 pages in.I'm enjoying it but can imagine a lot of readers being mislead by the African Game of Thrones advertising (it really isn't) and if you are more of a 'rollicking good adventure with straight forward prose' fan you will probably struggle with it.  I would probably compare it to say Ishiguro's The Buried Giant - in that you have characters travelling across a mythical, dream like landscape -however with an African setting and a great more sex and violence.

Re: Black Leopard Red Wolf
Your description sounds much more appealing to me than the African GoT one, actually. I still haven't picked it up, will probably do so now after I finish my current read.

The writing is incredible. Marlon James does short sentences for action brilliantly effectively.

Re: The King's Paws (with one holding a bottle of Peri Peri sauce.) New game. What does @ScarletBea have on her old vinyls? Guesses as a post or on a postcard to the usual address.

Re: What are you currently reading?
I finished book 2, The bear and the serpent, and I've now started book 3, The hyena and the hawk.
This is really a great trilogy, and I can't wait to know the rest of the plot!

You've still got The Meerkat and the Giraffe to read.

The Black Prince by Adam Roberts.
