Re: Highly Regarded Books that You Have Struggled Through TBH I would be careful with reading too much Sanderson. They do get a bit formulaic. I agree with those who had Elantris down as his weakest (on a tie with Alloy of Law.) At his worst his novels can be very vanilla. Some of his short stories and novellas though are exceptional.  I really enjoyed the one in the recent Rogues Anthology (suprisingly dark for Brandonbot) and Legion. Way of Kings was his best for me, but I did worry reading Words of Radiance if he was spreading the story a bit thin.

It's pumpkin soup, Farah likes the holidays.

Why would you make soup out of fruit?  :o       Soup is supposed to be meat, cheese, meat, meat, meat, potatoes and meat.

Cheese... in soup?

Of course.    Potato cheese soup.

I second this.

You'd probably add a squirrel or two.

No, no...you use rabbits.  Squirrels are a spring animal.

What? I just saw some squirrels jumping across the treetops outside not five minutes ago.

And I saw rabbits in the spring,  your point is?

We use squirrels in the dumplings.

Ah, not a big dumpling fan.

More for me, considering the pyramid is finished.

The pyramid will never be done

You want to bet? I say there is a limit.

What pyramid?

THE pyramid.

I don't get it

Shall we bring back the pyramid?

Yeehaw!

It's not really a pyramid anymore?

Looks to me like there are some flaws in its construction  :(

It can be whatever it wants to be.

all the time trapped in the pyramid might cause fantasy faction to rotate 90  degrees and drop out of reality.

Re: Any Hayao Miyazaki Fans? Hey! I ve been in a bit of a Ghibli mode recently. Saw Princess Mayugi at the cinema recently (not Miyazaki but still WOW!) and this weekend watched The Wind Rises and Pom Poko.  The Wind Rises in particular was a stunning achievement and a fitting bookend to Miyazaki's incredible career. And just discovered all the Studio Ghibli films are being shown on Film 4 over Easter!
