Re: What are you currently reading? Trying to read more this year because I think having almost no time for fiction in my life for the last 3 years has been driving me slowly insane. Missed it more than anything.

I reread all of His Dark Materials before the show came out (which I thought was really good!) and over Christmas I read the two novellas and finally got around to La Belle Sauvage. Wow that's a phenomenal read. I think I devoured it in two sessions. I'm saving The Secret Commonwealth for later but I'm curious as hell about it.

Going back into the Cosmere right now and reading The Well of Ascension, which I struggled with before but I'm determined to see it through. I generally like Sanderson quite a bit - I enjoyed the first two Stormlight books (not read Oathbringer) and think he did a great job with WoT. But I find all of his stuff pre-WoT very rough. I remember Warbreaker being pretty woeful. Mistborn is very hokey and I still find it surprising that people rate it so highly tbh. But I'm looking forward to getting round to the later trilogy as I've heard generally good things.

Re: Miscellaneous Musings about Books
I’ve been lurking on the F-F Facebook and some interesting things pop up from time to time but I don’t get why it’s so popular? Lots of members there but doesn’t feel like a community to me  just random strangers talking about books you could spend 10 years there and not get to know anyone. It also suffers from trolls if there is even a slightly controversial topic posted.

I feel the forum is so much better to get to know other members. You wouldn’t get a topic about depression and support  over there.

I love that here we know about each other’s  crazy habits like  Iso81 always goes regular at 9pm

I like it when people ask if anyone on the the group has read a series called Wheel of Time and whether it is worth the effort.

Btw have you read the Wheel of Time and is it worth the effort?

Re: The King's Paws (with one holding a bottle of Peri Peri sauce.)
@Cherie we're back!

And calling some of the oldies: @m3mnoch , @ultamentkiller , @Doctor_Chill , @Idlewilder ...

I got an email notification of this but still couldn't access the site until today! Hope everyone is doing okay and can make a serious dent in the TBRs over the next while.

Re: What are you currently reading? Read the first two Iain M Banks Culture novels, Consider Phlebas and The Player of Games. Only had them on the shelf for about 8 years.  ::)

Absolutely brilliant - going to move straight onto the next one (and the next, and the next, and the...)

Also rereading Wolf Hall. Was hoping to get stuck into The Mirror and The Light this summer, but I guess maybe I'll get to read it sooner than that after all...
