I follow close to thirty different webcomics and that number fluctuates as some become defunct and are removed and I discover more to replace them. The list used to be longer, but transitions between computers and various incidents that end in frustration and full restores take their toll.
FreakAngels - Written by Warren Ellis for Image. Updates on Friday if the writer or artist hasn't caught some horrible sickness or doesn't get swamped with other work. This webcomic is under, for a lack of better terms, a limited run and will be coming to an end in the next few months.
Dresden Codak - Updates irregularly. This comic starts with random strips, but goes on to introduce a central cast and progress towards an excellent story arc. Shows a clear progression in art quality/style.
Sin Titulo - Updates infrequently. Story is strong and strange, but hindered by the long periods of inactivity due to the
author/illustrator's paying work.
The Secret Knots - Updates irregularly. Mostly random strips and no central cast, but sometimes features mini-arcs, including a fantastic Lovecraftian pastiche. Very strong writing.
Max Overacts - Updates multiple times weekly, but currently on hiatus. Comic about a kid with a flair for the dramatic and a tendency to be overly dramatic. Hilarious.
Then there are ones that most people likely know about already:
