Title: Original Sources for Fantasy
Post by: RobertS on October 02, 2017, 06:10:33 PM
I enjoy knowing and using the early and original sources for writing fantasy. The book sources are often rather expensive. They are also not as easily searched through so I would of be delighted to learn of more sources online. If you try to find, price and then search through a copy of the Auraicept https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auraicept_na_n-%C3%89ces (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auraicept_na_n-%C3%89ces), https://archive.org/details/auraicept00calduoft (https://archive.org/details/auraicept00calduoft), you will know exactly what I mean. I own a copy and treasure it, but I find myself using a copy that I downloaded from  archive.org, https://archive.org/details/texts (https://archive.org/details/texts).

One of the best sources for ancient writing that I have found, apart from archive.org, is sacred-texts.com http://www.sacred-texts.com/index.htm (http://www.sacred-texts.com/index.htm)

That sacred texts site seems like a pretty great resource for inspiration on mythic fantasy and world-building, thanks for sharing it!

I glad to have shared something of use. They have an offer where you can buy a copy of it all. If my ship ever comes in, I plan to get a copy of it.
