One blog that I followed for a while and found to be quite helpful is http://magicalwords.net/

It's run by authors such as David B. Coe, Faith Hunter, A.J. Hartley, and more.

A few of my aspiring author friends and I set up our own blog, based on the model of Magical Words:

I've got Sam Sykes & Mark Charan Newton on my reader as well. They do a lot of (very open) talking about genre, fandom and writing, which I enjoy.

That's sort of what I'm trying to do on my blog. I talk about anything vaguely connected with my writing: reviews of books in a similar vein, what's going on in SFF right now, that kind of thing. I only blog once a week, as I'd rather post something worth saying than random chatter (I do enough of that on Twitter!).

Well, since I suggested the book, perhaps I should include the blog?  Maybe?

Jim Hines (The Goblin Series, The Princess Series) has an often thoughtful and sometimes hilarious blog: jimhines.livejournal.com
Gail Carriger (The Parasol Protectorate) is also amusing to read: gailcarriger.livejournal.com

I'll add my hat with Jon and Mark's...my author blog site is www.riyria.com.  It is a combination of what is going on with my own writing (posts on Wednesdays)  and advice for new authors (Sundays). For any authors in the group who are looking for help with marketing or any "business side" of writing - you can't beat my wife's www.write2publish.blogspot.com.

I'm always amazed when I hear from people that they like my blog. I get few comments in the posts themselves but I hear people talking about them all the time so I think I have a big silent majority. When it comes to "the business of publishing" no one beat's Robin's blog - it really is a ton of useful goodneess.

Michael, do you know of any deal for your books in Australia? I happened to see a copy of the second omnibus at a local place that gets imports, but haven't been able to find a copy of the first one anywhere.

The books are carried by both Galaxy (Syndney) and Borders but I see they are a bit "pricey" (around $25) I would recommend Book Depository which has it for 33% and is under $10 (which includes free shipping to just about anywhere in the world - which is a great deal.

Thanks Michael, I'll give Book Depository a go. Sadly to say that $25 price tag is pretty much what they charge for books down here.

Ouch - that's twice the price of an average UK paperback. You have my sympathy, Elfy!
