She Who Reigns Over Us All In Crimson Cheer recently suggested that I should post more of my blog here... so remember, its her fault ;) Starting a thread to keep it contained (for now at least)

I know, right? It's on the list and I'm even looking forward to it, but at this rate the author's going to have eight books out before I know if I like his style at all.

That just means you've got the right-sized list!

I would say bump up Age of Assassins/The Wounded Kingdoms. The Bone Ships, its fun, but Age of Assassins might make my best of decade list. It's like he took everything that was cool about 80s/90s Epic Fantasy, updated and condensed it for the modern age, then did it extremely well.

I also can't think of an author whose voice varies so much from book to book. Its slight, but noticeable - captures each protagonist really well.

Nope! haven't yet! Hope you enjoy it, and hope it holds up to the original series.
