G. R. Matthews "Seven deaths of an empire"
« on: October 20, 2020, 09:34:11 AM »
Today the main site reveals the cover for @G_R_Matthews 's new book, Seven deaths of a empire.

It looks very good, but I really disagree with calling it "grimdark" - especially because the description afterwards, which is appropriate (and makes the book very interesting), has got nothing to do with grimdark!

Quote
The looming castle pounded by the waves at its feet. The way the edges of the of the images seem to be disintegrating into ethereal smoke. And of course the determined figure staring up at what must seem like an impenetrable fortress.

Their fiery orange and yellow trimmed cloak is the only color in the image that isn’t blue or gray. It brings the character to the forefront and even gives us a peek into their thoughts. They seem to be gathering their energy before the final push to their goal, even though it is not at all certain they will succeed.

The sun is setting, the sky is darkening, the ocean is beating frigid waters against them. But it doesn’t matter. They will either finish their quest, or else their quest will finish them.

For me grimdark is about evil, and there's nothing evil in this cover, hehe - but maybe it's just me!

Good luck!!

But once you open the cover... BOOOO!

Jen got descriptive with the... well.. description of the cover. The actual story is dark and grim, with a sprinkling of hope (maybe), but where on the scale it fits -- I don't know :)

But there is also a goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/55711292-seven-deaths-of-an-empire
