SPFBO 2! Go and enter
« on: March 31, 2016, 06:09:12 PM »
Hey all, Mark Lawrence is ready to host year 2 of the Self-Published Fantasy Blog-Off, so if you have a self-pub book, go and submit.
You never know what could happen :)

er... is it self-pubbed?

Woo, thanks for the heads up, Bea! I missed this last year (it opened in April, and my book wasn't published until mid-May) so I've just submitted Glyphbinder to this year's contest. We'll see if things go anywhere from here.

Yes. Yes, it is.

Thanks for pointing this out to me.

250+ to one isn't great odds, but it's worth a try.

Actually it's only 25 to 1 to get into the top 10. Then once you're in the top 10, it's 10 to 1 to win the whole thing. But I'd imagine even getting into the top 10 will result in a decent amount of exposure.

So your chances are SLIGHTLY better than you thought. :0

For clarification, do the entry emails typically get a confirmation email? Because I sent The Call over two days ago, and have received no reply.

I don't think so, no.
Keep checking his blog, and the entries will appear there when he has time to put them all in.

It's open until the end of April, so plenty of time to check.

No confirmation here, but I don't expect Mark has time to confirm every submission, given he's up to 127 in 3 days! I'm sure if there was some sort of error, you could point to your Sent folder to show that you did send it on time and get it straightened out. So I wouldn't stress. :)

Eli, just FYI, Mark actually sent me a confirmation this morning (the fact that he's doing all this work out of the kindness of his heart is astonishing ... what a cool dude) so you may be seeing one soon.

He is at that, and your entry is confirmed on his site.

Just an advance word of warning: if your book doesn't make the top 10, don't think it's bad - it might be just a case of the bloggers' tastes, just pay attention to the reviews (if you get some!)

For example, Geoff got left behind and yet I think his book is amazing, and totally deserving of being in the top 10, unlike some others from which I read the summary... :D
@G_R_Matthews, anything to add?
