Hi folks!

I've just finished reading 'Among Others' (Jo Walton) and it got me thinking that I don't spend nearly as much time chatting about books as I'd like.  So here I am!

I promise not to try writing any fiction while I'm here (the results would be... horrifying).  But being among people who do seems pretty cool.

Simon

Oops, I think I forgot to introduce myself :)
Hi! After a long time of lurking I decided to create a profile here on the forums. My name is Daniel and I love all kinds of good literature, as well as nature sciences, running, gaming culture and old music (read Nine Inch Nails, Rage Against the Machine, Rammstein etc etc). I'm originally from Sweden but I'm currently living in Ljubljana, Slovenia, where I'm working on my Maester's degree (:P) in microbiology.
I'm looking forward to having some great discussions about literature and all things associated with that great genre with you guys. I'll see you around :)

Hello! Bonjour! Dia dhuit! Konnichiwa! Aloha! Šalom! Ya'at'eeh! Oki! (Sorry, don't know how to say hello in any other languages... yet.) Conás átá tú?

(Note: As of now, I know few words in these languages. So, don't expect a conversation. =P)

I stumbled across this site searching for information on self-publishing. I don't use twitter, but I did end up here because of the 'Meltdown' and I'm glad it happened, for that reason. <(^.^)>

Anyway, I'm an aspiring writer. I was always rather talented with a pencil and brush when I was younger, but circumstances led to me not being to hone my art, or even practice it, until it was too late (bad wrist issues). Skipping through a few plot points, I've decided writing is my best option to get all my stories onto to paper before they make my head explode.

It would be nice to make all the voices stop too! So many characters wanting their 15 minutes. Pfft.

I came here to be part of a community of Fantasy fans, and get some help as I work towards becoming a writer. I wrote a couple stories in grade school, but it's... been a little while, and... they probably sucked anyway. =P

If your curious... I was born in the US. In the Bible Belt... which I fled for the West Coast as soon as I could. Unfortunately, I didn't know what hipsters were beforehand. Oregon has been good to me in other ways though. Free healthcare, and lots minority grants for school and such. Speaking of which, I'm currently working my way through undergraduate studies. I plan to carry them into graduate studies, and beyond. I'll be teaching as a day job in various countries for years after school. I'd like to live off my writing after I find a place I like enough to settle down in. I can survive comfortably (for me) off $12k a year, so I'm hopeful.

I hope everyone is having a great day!

Morning, all. I finally made it here, after years of not quite getting round to it. Some may know me from Chronicles (where I is chopper), others from AltFiction. I read, I write, and I have an unhealthy desire to listen every single Big Finish Dr Who audio play. In chronological order.

Feel free to start running away now. :D

Hi, I'm Lanie.

I discovered this site via a post on Goodreads, regarding a certain author's recent meltdown, and decided to check it out. I'm also a self-published author, but I'm not in denial about it, and I'm only mentally unstable before I have my morning coffee. I consider myself to be a reader first, and writer second.

I look forward to being a part of the fantasy community.  ;D

There's about 90% of that description I recognise immediately (the morning coffee rarely helps, these days...) :D - and about That Guy, he throws a hellish wall of spam on Twitter, y'know. Must be a terribly boring life.

And cheers, A2M! Nice to be here!

Greetings all.

I've been reading fantasy since pretty much the dawn of time. There's no better way to waste a rainy afternoon than by arguing theories on tiny details.

I'm also trying to write stuff that is worth reading but I won't be pestering y'all about that.

Hi, caf! There's plenty of advice (and great discussions, and even people willing to read your stuff and give you feedback) to be had over in our writer's corner! Welcome to FF!
