Hi.
I've read a lot of fantasy and I've dabbled in writing. I've grown astounded by how few people actually read nowdays, or well, at least out of the people I know. Not to mention the similarities between books of a certain genre, it might just be my inate attraction to a certain subtype, but who knows.

It is disappointing that people dont read books anymore but yet in terms of reading people are doing more than ever when you think about the time spent online by most people and how many forum posts, status updates, blogs and articles that are read.but simply put we dont have time to engage in every pasttime available.i find that to read and enjoy music properly that I have pretty much cut Tv out except the news, and maybe the odd show I enjoy or F1. I probably watch less than 5   hours of Tv a week.

I imagine I should stop here and say, 'hi' since I'm posting comments all over this board. :)

I was happy to find you, Fantasy Faction, and am hoping to be able to add something to your dialogue.

I'm currently waist deep in the Malazan Book of the Fallen (book 3), so I probably will be reading that for some time.  Absolutely enjoying it though.

Thanks,

-N

That may be so, but most of them are illiterate.

I called them mad.
Damn them!
They outvoted me!

Hi all, I'm Mike from South Africa.  I got into writing through my work as pediatric chiropractor, for magazines and childcare books. I've been a fan of fantasy since I was a kid, like so many others I began on C S Lewis books but the bug bit when I picked up The Dark Tower series by Stephen King.

My first novel is in the editing phase and my first script has just been put on stage in Johannesburg (an adaption of the Wizard of Oz for childrens theatre).

I look forward to meeting you guys (My first post was in the July writing challenge)

Hi all! *Waves* I got side track by life for about a week, but I am back. Welcome all newcomers during my brief sojourn in that hedonistic place we call "real life."

Hey everyone! Greetings from the cornfields of Illinois! I've been a big lover of fantasy most of my life and love that it lets us fully explore our imaginations and (I think) become more complete human beings. I think I love most of all that no matter how much we explore, there is always somewhere else to go.  I'm here to expand my horizons as much as possible, so please feel free to recommend away.  :)  I'm thinking about reading Night Angel, Game of Thrones, and the Necroscope series next. Here's hoping to some wonderful discussions!

Also, sometime in the future I'm hoping to spin a few yarns and I would love to have some feedback :)

We're happy to have you...check out the Reviews and Recommendations for various possibilities, and of course, when you're ready to share your writing, the Writers' Corner is a great place to get honest, constructive feedback.  Welcome!  (and I was born in Missouri...I know exactly what you mean about cornfields...how's the humidity?!)

Figured I'd stop here first and say "Hi"... Going to new forums is always a bit awkward at first.

Anyway, I'm that type that flits in and out a lot, but I've always been a big Fantasy fan, and am always looking for more novels to add to the library.  Found this site view a search for the next set of good Fantasy this year, and decided I'd grace you all with my presence lol.
If any are interested in a small sample of my writing...
