Greetings from Thailand.

I have written a couple of stories in Thai, and still trying to improve my work. Being in and out of US for five years, I adapt my taste for American fictions and crave to read more, and to write it!

As an online college instructor and a gradstudent--hopefully also a landscape architect part timer, my schedule would leave me very little time to write; however I would enjoy some encouragement and company with friends who share the same aspiration. I would love to read your stories and share mine as well!!

Please excuse my sloppy English at times, since it is never my native tongue. I am improving, and hopefully by lot with this website.

Peace
P. Suppak

Welcome psuppak!  Always glad to add more writers to our group! :)  Feel free to post some of your writing in our Critiques section if you like.

The site owner, Overlord, lived in Thailand for awhile. :)  It's great to see people from all over the world coming together to enjoy fantasy!  Enjoy your stay! :D

Hi, I'm new :D

Greetings from the UK. I reckon you can tell my name. I'm an author with a couple of presses and I write mostly fantasy action/adventure with a dollop of romance added. (Think Pirates of the Caribbean type romance - a flavour, not the plot.) I turned up here after a twitter link. Looks like fun!

My tongue has been in my cheek for so long, I've eroded a new mouth.

Howdy!

Shall i introduce you?

deejerandom took a five year sabbatical from fantasy, but was given the kiss of life by Sanderson, and is now back into the genre.  He thinks he's old though he is only in his mid 30s, and enjoys old school fantasy from the likes of Brooks, but just wishes there had been more writers back in the 80s.

How did I do?

XD  I see you've been reading my posts.  However I didn't take a sabbatical from fantasy, just didn't read many of new authors.  Close though...  I also like guitar playing vikings that raise the roof.

Hallo,

Bookworm from the UK here  :D I've been reading the blog for a little while now and figured, why not sign up to the forum? Fantasy is a big passion of mine and I don't really find the Goodreads fantasy groups I've signed upto very chatty. Good for recommendations but this place seems a lot better.

I blog, and review all sorts of books, if you can really call what I do reviewing, however I've always had a heavy preference for fantasy and I've recently (in the past year ish) been trying to catch up with what I haven't read. So far I've been reading Hobb, Sanderson, Rothfuss, and Martin but eventually I'll poke around a bit more. I read LotR and Hobbit when I was about 14, and I've read a couple of Brooks, but aside from that I haven't really delved into the older stuff. Yet.

I go through moods with my reading and at the moment I'm in a bit of an 'easier read' mood, after a very very long epic fantasy mood, but I'm still craving the rest of Song of Ice and Fire it's just difficult to read it at the moment. Have only read Game of Thrones so far, and can happily say that I didn't read it because of the series, as fantastic as the series was (or, is, to me, I suppose. I wanted to read the book first so still need to watch the last 5 episodes), I had planned to read Martin next anyway.

I also enjoy historical fiction and contemporary fiction, and on a rarer occasion a little paranormal (though it's hard to delve through the good from the bad these days, I just try something that interests me and hope - there's an awful lot of trash around), and I'm okay to read any age group, really. But I keep coming back to fantasy. What would life be without a few dragons and wizards?  ;)

I'd like to be a writer, but I don't have a lot of personal space or quiet at this point in my life, which I suppose is a good thing. It gives my ideas time to stew and develop. I have an idea for an epic fantasy, but I also have an idea for a few weird-ish short stories. I'll see where it goes when I'm able to sit down and write.

PS. Sometimes I babble. You probably didn't notice.

Thanks! Not sure if that's a good thing, mind, looking at my bookshelf and already monstrous wishlist! Gotta love the Amazon wishlist though - I'm forever finding good recommendations.

Thanks Autumn! I'll have to do just that. It seems like this forum is fairly active so far, and has been growing a lot too. That's cool to see. Thanks for the welcome =)

Hiya folks,

I'm Dan.  Fantasy has kind of consumed my life ever since I read Sword of Shannara at the age of ten--nearly twenty years ago.  I've worked in a Blockbuster, a pizza joint, a Candle Warehouse, and various car dealerships.  I'm a mechanic, and I've also had a stint or two as a Parts Associate.  I lived in Kvinesdal, Norway for three years, then moved back to the States near the end of '09.  Since that time, I've tried to be a writer.  I'm still working on that  :-\.  I'm an infrequent contributor to Adventures in Sci-Fi Publishing.  I also co-founded Evolved Publishing.

I'm a ridiculously large Rothfuss fanboy, much to my shame.  I never thought I'd be a fanboy of anything, but the bastard didn't give me a choice.  If there's anyone else around here who hates loving him, well, throw me a message.  We can accumulate our LoveHate and throw it in his ear.  Like a wet-willy, but not.

In any case, it's great being here.

Welcome Dan!  I'm sure you and Overlord (the site owner) will get along well.  He is also a Rothfuss fanboy, but he is unapologetic about it. ;)
