Hi everyone!

Yet another newbie joined in your midst!

I heard of this site through Goodreads and am incredibly glad to have found out about it!

I'm from Israel and my passion for fantasy started about 5 years ago. I can't say that I've read widely in the genre so far, but I had the chance to try out the works of some of the so called "big names" in the genre.

I hate science-fiction and comical fiction, and enjoy the occasional contemporary fantasy, but mostly I'm just there for the epic, thrilling, exciting, gripping, emotional kind of books.

Hello, you have another new one!
My name is Noona, I'm 22, based near Manchester, and I've been reading fantasy for pretty much all my reading life. (gosh, this sounds like some sort of confession :P)

I think it started when I was very young, as in about 2 years old, there was a puppet animation series on the tv of Terry Pratchett's Truckers. At the time I had the little book that went with the series, not the full book, but a few years later I got the children's novel and read the whole series. Then of course Narnia and Alice in Wonderland happened, and a few others, and I was set. When I was about 11 a friend of mine was reading David Eddings, and through her I moved into non-childrens Fantasy. I rediscovered Pratchett and moved onto Discworld, and then at about 14 discovered probably my favourite series (which probably noone will have heard of) which is the Symphony of Ages series by Elizabeth Haydon.

My favourite book is, I'd say, Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman, but I tend to much prefer epic fantasy set in a completely different world.

Oh, and I discovered the forum because I follow Trudi Canavan on twitter and she mentioned that one of her books was on the most anticipated list :)

Hey Noona,

Thanks so much for signing up - Good to have 'another' Northerner on here... I don't know where all the Southern UK folks are (other than me! I live in Bristol).

2 years old? Wow... haha. I started about 14/15 I believe. Trudi Canavan actually got me into Fantasy... her book was the first full Fantasy Book (i.e. aimed at adults) I ever read and I've never looked back since :)

Hey all, yet ANOTHER new recruit here!

My name is Dylan, and I live in New York.  I study film at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, and have been acting professionally for about eight years now!  Got into fantasy as early as age 7, when I snuck my dad's copy of Fellowship of the Ring off his shelf and got through it in about a week.

Anyway, looking forward to all future discussion we might have!

Suggestions:

Maybe a short story or flash fiction contest in the near future?

Use a poll to let members vote on them?

I'm actually thinking of holding a short story competition in the very near future :)

If you do hold a contest let me know.  I will donate free ebook download coupons to some of my stuff as prizes.  I know a few others who would donate too.

This is the first time I've got to 'general' discussion. I've been reading all the book ones :o)

My name's Charlotte (or BadFaith) I'm currently living in Wigan, England. I'm a teacher, so spend half my time being swore at by 13 year olds!! I think I first read the Hobbit when I was 10 as when I was younger I much preferred stories about horses (anyone else who read 'Jinny'?), witches and things by Enid Blyton! I think that's when I found HG Wells and Douglas Adams too!

I found the site because someone retweeted it on twitter. I can't remember who because I follow lots of authors!

Hi Guys,

Another fantasy n00b. I'm Neil from Preston, UK. I found this site after being followed by Fantasy Faction on Twitter :)

I'm a big Scott Sigler and Shaun Jeffery fan and I'm on Goodreads. Whilst these authors don't write fantasy novels ;) I'm sure there will be something here that interests me.

Just got my first Kindle so lets get reading!

You can... but you have to drink tea and eat crumpets with us. No coffee or waffles, pancakes or bagels are allowed! :D
