Naminé is a character that appears in the different games of the "Kingdom Hearts" series which I really love. Naminé is a very interesting character because she is able to manipulate the memories of others while she has no memories of her own life. And her name means "ocean wave" in Japanese.
Hiro (meeting himself in the future): I look upset.
Ando: Go. Talk to yourself.
Hiro: No way... I scare me. You do it.

I picked my nick because Thyra Danebod was the first queen of Denmark and is one of my historical heroines.

Mine was originally a character's name. It was so pretty that when I scrapped the story I figured it'd be a waste to toss the name, too. It sort of stuck from there.  :)

That's cool.  I hadn't heard of her, but she sounds quite a girl.

The Regency Elf is my favourite character from the Cerebus graphic novel, and I wanted to use that, but she's a girl and I'm not, so I went with something relatively generic that had a fantasy connotation, but couldn't be nailed down to one specific book.

I'm really into Old English, and Anglo-Saxon history at the moment (I have phases). Hearthweru means Hearth warrior, or household warrior. It's an early Saxon version of the Danish Housecarl.

It's actually my name although on most forums etc I have often gone by Oni, Onieyes, or onislayer. the same name I used in the tons of MMORPGS I used to play before finally chucking that addiction right before Cataclysm came out in WoW.

Alright, hope no one minds I am resurrecting a dead thread here  :)

I always use gender neutral or ambiguous ids when I post to tech forums, force of habit I thought about doing that here as well, but decided it really didnt matter. I still didnt want to use my real name, it's boring if for no other reason. So, trying to come up with something, I was thinking through characters I like ... decided to go with Arry, Arya's alias when she was traveling as a boy with the Night's Watch, figured it was suiting. I probably would have preferred an adult character, but I liked using the alias instead of the real name and had to pick something. ... and I absolutely love Arya's character. I would love a series of books with her as the main character as an adult.... but I will settle with just waiting for the last two books of ASoIaF

I love that you gave us a huge reason, but, and I'm sure I speak for a few of us, I only ever hear Hagrid when I see it! :D

Mine is what my name got shortened to, after my mother told me I was to go by Laura because they couldn't shorten it...

Yeah, Overlord posted the same thing once. Not really what I was going for, but certainly doesnt matter and I definitely get it. I think I actually had the same thought the first time I read Martin's books, just forgot.  Now my username just has a little more personality than I intended   :)

I get the Hagrid connotation, but when coupled with your avatar I immediately to go Arya.

I just added the avatar yesterday, so glad to hear it helps clarify what i intended (not that it really matters)
