Hi.
« on: February 08, 2021, 08:28:20 PM »
This is where the thing said I was to introduce myself.   ;)

I've been passively lurking on here for a couple of years; I even came close to actually submitting a story in the monthly writing contest. I figured it was time to actively lurk somewhere. FF has always appeared to me to be exponentially less toxic than other places I've intentionally purged from my memory.

A quick and dirty bio: I spent my college years focused on 19th century British literature (think the Brontes and Austen) which has led me to a career in sales and marketing for a health insurance company. I've always been a fantasy goof, though. I was the guy who would rather read the Monster Manual and the magical items chapters in the DMG rather than play D&D. My current loves are AJ Hackwith, Alix Harrow, Erin Morgenstern, the Call of Cthulhu Keeper's Guide, Captain Marvel, Image Comics, both Gotrek and Felix, Stardew Valley, and the fictional characters whose histories I'm currently recording. 80s horror movies are my jam. My inner writer gets ahead of itself too often, and my inner editor is an overworked executive assistant from the 7th circle of Hell. I drink beer.

I'm looking forward to actively being a part of the forum and not flaking out after three months. :)

I love the Monster Manual, but it's been years since I have read it.  I was about to buy a new Player's Handbook so that I could join a D&D session on Roll 20

I like gelatinous cubes and chupacabra

Hi and welcome, I'm glad you decided to join!
I won't tell you where to post, I'm sure you know everything by now hehe - and know we like old threads too, so feel free to post anywhere.

And you know we need stories, so whenever a theme catches your eye, go on, write one :)

I'm glad you noticed we're all a very friendly bunch :D

By the way, where in the world are you?
Although since you mention college, I think you're in the US...
At home in the Fantasy Faction forum!

I'm "She Who Reigns Over Us All In Crimson Cheer", according to Peat!

Yep, I'm in the States. Minnesota, to be more accurate. I'm still dreaming of the day I bump into Neil Gaiman at a gas station around here.

Nice to meet you both!

An old friend of mine was a famous martial artist in Minnesota for years

however, he recently moved out of Minnesota to New Mexico

I also interviewed for a job in Minnesota for 3M Corporation

He and Brock Lesnar are probably the only two fighers out of MN I've ever watched.

I do wish the Greg Hardy match had a different outcome.

Hello! Tell me about the beer. ;D (I'm a bit of a craft beer nerd, but as I'm in Australia, there's remarkably little overlap unless you get into big name imports...) Welcome to the fun, I do hope we can provide more than three months of entertainment. ;)

Welcome to the forum. :)
Kallor shrugged. 'I've walked this land when the T'lan Imass were but children. I've commanded armies a hundred thousand strong. I've spread the fire of my wrath across entire continents, and sat alone upon tall thrones. Do you grasp the meaning of this?'

'Yes' said Caladan Brood. 'You never learn'

Welcome! I love the monster manuals for D&D and Call of Cthulhu. Some great inspiration in those pages :)
