Tor.com just asked the authors!

I got Gardens of the Moon in a second hand shop because it was the first (still to be read): does it mean I shouldn't start there? :-\

Edit: I just read the comments, everyone's complaining about it ::) I'll read that one first, hehe

Yeah, that list is roughly chronological, so it has the two unfinished prequel trilogies first, which only seems to make sense from a marketing perspective. Gardens Of The Moon is probably the best place to start.

It's so weird, because Erikson and Esslemont have always advocated for Publication Order in the past. The cynical side of me thinks this may all be a ruse by Tor to beef up the sales of their newer books (not least because of the poor critical and commercial reception to Erikson's Fall of Light!), but a big New York publisher wouldn't do something like that, surely!  ::)

Yeah, it's so stupid to do it this way. I know nobody who thinks it is a good idea to read it like this.  ::) (Welcome back, btw. :))
