So I went on my nature experience. Unfortunately the trails were too close to traffic, and there were people. Messes up the whole thing for me. I want to find a patch of land far away from civilization that hardly anyone knows about, and stay there a while. I don't know how I'm going to find that though...
Is there a sort of 'holiday camp' near you, with cottages that you can rent like a hotel, but in the middle of nature?
(check 'Center Parcs' in the UK)

Your description feels a bit like the time I went to the "multi-faith/quiet room" at work because I needed silence and space to relax and calm down, but it was right near the plant and all I could hear were the machines working, which completely defeated the purpose ::)

For many people at my work today is their last day, but I'm still working next week.

What about you? Days off? Calm down at work?

Today it's also "Christmas Jumper Day", with donations for charity ;D

Yes, not fair you don't get paid :-\
Is it because you're inbetween contracts? If so, I hope the one that starts on the 2nd lasts a long time

I'll look into that. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have officially survived my first semester of college, with possibly an A in every class. We will see. I'm only on break from school though. The rest continues. I have financial aid and scholarships to apply for, applying for summer jobs, planning events for my student group, still working on my hobby project... It's a lot, but it's all worth it.

Before you come Downunder, and to avoid misunderstandings, you may need to learn the nuances of the word "MATE".

Actually, you don't even need to stay overnight.
Yesterday I went to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, and a long walk in nature, seeing hardly anyone (everyone tends to stay near the entrance only) and enjoying the cold sunny weather did me the world of good. So, big park/forest trails near you?

As I suspected, this is one way in which British English and Australian English are identical.
