I looked up Sevensky Circus just to see if there were connections and found a second picture on deviantart that related to the first oddly. I had to include it in the mix somehow.

Btw, that here is the second Sevensky picture. Quite intriguing too, I think.

That is the picture. I drew inspiration from it in both of my compositions. I like a lot of that artists pictures.

I may start using images instead of outlines. My characters never do what I tell them to, so outlines lose shape quickly.

Sherlanko crossed his arms as he watched the glistening oil paint dry on his canvas.  He loved the muted browns and greens of his tree city with elephants, but something was missing.  His face brightened-- a space ship!

"Siri-- paint a space ship!"

The eyes glowed as the iPhone 179 woke.  Siri stretched her life-like arms and appeared to yawn.  She blinked her long eyelashes, smiling poutily as she did it. It was cute the first time Sherlanko saw it, but now that he recognized it as a loading sequence, it was even more irritating than the pinwheel of death that often graced his Apple Home IA's videoscreens.  At long last her posture straightened indicating she was processing.

"What kind of sprayed chip would you like?" Siri began, "Please select from the following options--"
"No-- SPACE SHIPPPP!"
"I'm sorry, did you mean space?  I don't know how to paint space."
"No SPACESHIP."
"A ship."
"A ship. In space."
"There is no space on your painting."
"A SPACE SHIP.  A FUCKING SPACE SHIP."
"Did you mean a space ship?"
"Yes!!!! OH MY GOD FINALLY YES."
"I don't know how to paint a space ship fucking."
"Just paint the damn space ship."
"Okay.  What kind of space ship would you--"
"One that matches the color palate."
"Did you say 'color pale violet'?"
"NO!  Christ, just kill me--"
Blood splattered across the canvas as Sherlanko gasped his final breaths. "Hos...hospppittt... al..."
"I'm sorry, I could not understand you."
"Hoss... heell... eellp."
"Would you like me to paint a space ship?"

The end.

I only saw this now - and because Bradley sent me a PM about it.

Because as you all know, I only really check the contest's current thread on the 30th.
Slow and steady wins the race.

Got nothing that begs to be written on this one. We'll see, but work is busy and I want to put more down on my wip

I have a starting thread, and that’s usually enough for me to pull something together.

My October's been unusually busy this year, so I haven't had much time to devote to the story. In addition my original idea didn't pan out. But the rest of the month is fairly clear for me so with luck I should get something submitted.

Having struggled for 4 weeks over no. 3, nothing is working for me. I think I'll have to make a last minute change and see what I can get out of one of the others.

Now that the deadline is near, I noticed a loophole. It says one story per person or team, but it does not say that a writer or team could not also submit a poem or for that matter multiple poems.

Now, I need to quickly write a poem. :)
