Re: Is Tar Valon a vagina? Fantasy is full of sexual imagery - how else do you explain dark lords living in high towers protuding from shrubbery in the ground?  Small penis complex clearly.

If you are getting really sick minded though - how about those wizards leading young boys off on quests?  Camping out under the stars, huddled together for warmth at night ....(okay, that's me banned!)

Re: The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordan ^ I agree with your criticisms - he should have had a better editor who simply took a red pen and crossed out 90% of his annoying overdone character traits and it would have improved the story immensely!

Also the story is far more enjoyable when not being read from Rand's POV.

Having said that there is a lot to enjoy.

In the fantasy family tree, you don't go straight from Tolkien to George RR Martin, you go via Robert Jordan.  The epic scale of his story, the political intrigues, the world building are all to be admired.

Re: Most emotion you have ever thought whilst reading? Fool's Errand - Robin Hobb

If you've read it, you know what I am talking about.

Re: Does reading Fantasy make you want to wield a bow / sword? what Christina wants is a cycling based fantasy series.

The Tour de MiddleEarth.

Who would win? the elves are best at sprints, but the dwarves have stamina.  The humans have a good all round game, but those orcs are c**ts and just smack everyone else of their bikes.

Re: Brandon Sanderson
Apparently he's got a 36 book series planned  :o. The 6 that he's written that aren't Wot novels are part of it. The man is a writing machine.

The man is actually an AI.  (we have discussed before haven't we?  I remember someone posting that George RR Martin had been locked in a basement with a bowl of chicken wings while Sanderson finished ADWD for him.)

Re: Terry Pratchett Memorial Read I read Wee Free Men but it is rather hazy and don't think I read any more of his Tiffany Aching novels (and suspect the book that was finished in Summer 2014 is the 5th Tiffany Aching book) so I nominate the Wee Free Men and will carry on with the rest of the cycle afterwards leading to the release of the possible 5th if anyone wants to join me?
