When I manage to find the right cables, remove all the cardboard packages, tidy up... ;D

Yeah, borrowed from my friends! Who also helped me with the heavy lifting, hehe
Yesterday was the last step, there were 3 of us trying to get the doors fitted :o

Anyway, I assembled that wardrobe, the bed, 2 bedside tables, a small chest of drawers, a sofa, a dining table and 4 chairs 8)

Starting phase 2 at the house :D

So I decided to fix the spare bedroom, as my parents are already asking when they can come visit, and I also want to have my sister+family.

I dismantled the old wardrobe there, and discovered that behind it I could see 3 different colours on the wall!
Step 1 would be to paint the walls, but first I had to remove the big Disney Princesses sticker band all around, hehe
During this, I discovered that those 3 colours had been removed in patches underneath the sticker...
As the current painted wallpaper was woodchip, I decided to remove it altogether, and start afresh.
When I started doing that, I discovered another wallpaper underneath that one, bright orange and yellow, with flowers, that was probably put up when the house was built, 40 years ago.

So: 2 wallpapers and 3 coats of paint :o

I'm now halfway through removing everything, and the actual wall isn't plaster, so I think it will need wallpaper instead of paint: this means me hiring someone to do it, I draw the line at putting up wallpaper myself (I want it to be properly done, hehe)

Oh the joys of DYI ;D

Wallpaper is a work of the devil. Any urban fantasy that wants to invoke Satan could do it through the medium of sizing, glue, and matching patterns across bolts of paper.

Paint over all. Spackle anything that indicates there's something beneath the paint, sand, and re-paint.

@ScarletBea  you deserve a medal and a mountain of ice cream. Painting can be satisfying, wallpaper is a nightmare. Definitely get someone else to do it. ;D

After all the layers that would mean the room getting smaller ;D

Time to revive this thread!

I had the decorator in, putting wallpaper in my spare room: he just left and the room looks lovely! :D

Next step is carpet, then buy a sofa-bed, and it's ready to get visitors ;D

My plan is to create a little 'music corner' and maybe buy an old-fashioned record player, and bring my vinyl records from Portugal...

We have a music corner too. Our new furniture for our new house arrives tomorrow. We're actually trying to decorate, which we've never done beyond making new things not clash. We're going for a 60's-ish Mid-Century Modern look. We have a king-size bed & matching night stands, a bar with two stools, a coffee table, and something else on the way. The new house is looking great! So biiiiig. I could have most of you over for a weekend!

We'd love to host anyone who feels like exploring the American South. I cannot imagine why any of you bright Europeans with easy access to the whole of Europe and the Mediterranean would WANT to, but it's your dime ;)
