Word to Forum transition
« on: October 24, 2012, 06:22:16 PM »
I have a new story I'm ready to put in Work to be Critiqued, but it's an awful lot of dialogue. This means that I'm going to have to sit here for an hour finding every little dialogue line and separate it, through about 5.7k worth of words.

Are there any magical tricks I can use in word processor to add a space in front of all the paragraphs/lines automatically? It would make my job so much easier so I can bring this story to you guys.

Coming from the guy who helped invent that rule....nope. I don't know of anything that could help when transferring it from Word to the forum. The forum, when copy and pasting, deletes all of the lines, italics, and other useful things and fonts. I would recommend using a google doc for your work (making it easier to read) and add a link in your post.

Hope this helps.

I had a feeling there would be no other way. I went ahead and added in all the spaces, so it's up for review in Work to be Critiqued now. Thanks for mentioning Google Docs, I forgot about that. Maybe I'll use it for the next story.

If I could make another suggestion: shorten the work you post. 5700 words is quite a bit. I found out that roughtly 1-2K is the right amount to get speedy crit. People see the giant swath of ants and run from it. Might do better to delete everything except your first part and post them after a reasonable amount of crits.

Again, just a suggestion.
