We’re here and enjoying the low key vibe. @Eclipse, have reached chapter 19.

Ask a question, talk about a book, say something (across the forum)?

^ not sure what that was, I didn't see your original post, hehe

Anyway, wahey, I've just bought the tickets for 2 events at the Huddersfield Literature Festival! This year I'm going to one with the lady who works translating the Anne Lister diaries and was a consultant in the "Gentleman Jack" series (Anne Choma), and another with the writer of the book "Hostile Environment: How Immigrants Became Scapegoats" (Maya Goodfellow).

Literary Festival, nice! In Southeast Asian countries we have this book fair called "The Big Bad Wolf" book sale, where you could get books at a massive massive discount. I used to go there a few years back and ended up with two full cartboard boxes of books. Now those were the good times.  :D

Lovely place, here. Drinking more than usual, which is fun (though fattening). Though, Mrs. JMack and I are such occasional drinkers, that “more than usual” means we each had two pina coladas the other day.  8)

Met a couple from Manchester, who’ve travelled all over the world. Planning to do the round trip of the island with them tomorrow. The husband will drive on the British side of the road, while I navigate. The ladies will be chauffeured.  ::)

Just finished “The Bear and the Nightingale,” which I enjoyed quite a bit. Ordered the next two books, of course.

And trying to do a bit of writing this morning. I like the story, but have no motion where it’s going.

Isn't it too early for that? :)
Kallor shrugged. 'I've walked this land when the T'lan Imass were but children. I've commanded armies a hundred thousand strong. I've spread the fire of my wrath across entire continents, and sat alone upon tall thrones. Do you grasp the meaning of this?'

'Yes' said Caladan Brood. 'You never learn'

Okay, I went ahead and bought that flight to Rotterdam in June. I'll be spending seven nights there, so six whole days.

Any suggestions on how to spend them? Dad suggested to rent a hotel room in a neighbouring area for a part of the stay, or to use the trains for an out-of-town trip. I'm more partial to the latter, but where to go within a reasonable timetable?

And to be clear, I want to spend one day just chilling in a new environment.
I'll notify your next of kin... that you sucked!

You should go at least a day to Amsterdam, preferably stay over a couple of days, it's only about an hour or so on the train.
I really love that city, I was there about 20 years ago (!) and definitely want to go back.

I second this.

Van Gogh museum and Anne Frank house are brilliant. But then the whole city is nice too.
