Well done, Inky! ;D
I guess these places work because most people are too scared or ashamed or don't know how to fight back

Satisfying story of the day. Around last month I was scammed of about $80 by a tuition institution, who send me to a mother who didn't actually have time for her son to take tuition classes. I gave up trying to go after my cash back then, depressed and defeated.

Now, a month later, I've just started to garner an interest in the subject of law (getting interested to maybe join law school) and went to read some thai laws regarding acts of fraudulence. I messaged this institution, quoting this clause of the law and telling them that I've consulted with my friend who was a lawyer and that in this case I could sue them for fraudulence. I told them that if they didn't refund my $80 they can be prepared to go to the court.

The institution try to refuse it at first, and tried to come up with excuses (I did try to minimize my losses by doing somethings against the institutions law, albeit very minor ones). In the end, however, they are afraid enough to agree to refund back half of my payment.

That is story of how I've gotten my $40 back and a feel of righteous revenge that felt so damnnn good!  :D (I was so ecstatic that I wanted to shout into their faces that "Law works, bi*ch!" in the end, hahaha.) *dances around while beating my chest like King Kong to a merry tune*

Law half-works but better than not working at all ;D

Go buy City of Stairs with that 40 bucks and join us in Read Along :)

If you had told them that your lawyer is Bobby, the Baseball Bat...you'd have got all the money plus a $20 bonus too.  ;D

I just purchased City of Stairs (in Turkish) for a huge discount. It was 10 USD but I purchased it for 2.5 USD including delivery fee.

I didn’t realise F-F Facebook is only a readers group. It’s not for writers.

Writers and readers are both welcome here.

I hadn't even read about that when we decided on the place! And it's in the wrong city :P

It was great - we then moved to Waterstone's, where we confirmed that there aren't many books we agree on ;)

Very long and annoying trip home, what with roadworks, traffic and heavy rain >:( And Eclipse, I did a wrong turn and ended up going via the M6 again ::)
Very glad I've got tomorrow off work, hehe

Will you still remember eating in Pizza Express on this particular day 20 years in the future though?

I think only if I'm allowed to check my calendar/diary ;D

Now, 20 years ago today, my mum's birthday 1999: nope, off the top of head I have no idea where I went :P

Their actual birthday is November, 8th. But 10th of November is a special day, death of Turkish Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. She did not want to celebrate on this day so we postponed the celebration 1 week :)
