A couple of hours ago I was interviewed by a local TV station, about my fundraising for that viking fantasy novella I'm hoping to publish in Iceland.

I have 39% of the money I need, with 23 days to go. Here's hoping this provides a boost.

Are you doing a Kickstarter or something? Where can I kick in some cash?

Ooooh is it online?
I know it's all in icelandic, but I'd love to be able to see you talking ;D

The interview wasn't live. It'll be broadcast tomorrow evening, and the clip will be put on Facebook at the same time. I can link it, if you like.

I'm using Karolina Fund. Which is basically the same, yes.

I thought I already brought this up here on FF, but just in case I didn't:

I'm hoping to release a Viking fantasy novella here in Iceland at the end of the year. I've decided on a budget of 2200 Euros for the printing. If I reach the threshold, I'll write it. If not, then I won't.

(I do have the entire storyline laid out, and I can do a novella in about a month)

Thanks for the offer. I CAN provide a link, if you want. But the story will be in Icelandic.
I'll notify your next of kin... that you sucked!

That's the one.

And the title translates into something like "Doomflight".

(I swear it sounds less corny in Icelandic.)

Almost eevry morning I have a battle within myself about the number of cars I see, stopped and waiting but with their engines running >:(
My portuguese genes battle with my english genes, or rather my dad's genes (speak up about anything and everything) battle my mum's genes (never speak up or make a fuss), hehe

So far the not saying anything is winning ;D

Also quite randomly, I realised yesterday that english rice cakes are extremely different from portuguese rice cakes: think savoury vs sweet!

I had a terrible fever last night, I was literally shivering but I'm OK now :)
Kallor shrugged. 'I've walked this land when the T'lan Imass were but children. I've commanded armies a hundred thousand strong. I've spread the fire of my wrath across entire continents, and sat alone upon tall thrones. Do you grasp the meaning of this?'

'Yes' said Caladan Brood. 'You never learn'

That's eerily similar to blood wars in Nona Grey books.

I noticed that cars in Iceland turn off when you are in neutral and take foot off the clutch. Pressing clutch again turns them back on.

Not just Iceland, that's normal all over Europe in most recent cars (at least also UK and Portugal, and I assume that manufacturers don't make them special for these countries). It's called Start-Stop technology, and I think it's super :)
You can turn it off, though, and it doesn't work all the time (depends on engine run).

My sister doesn't drive regularly, living in London, and when she rented a car on holidays she was really annoyed at that feature, she thought that it was her stalling the car all the time ;D

Yeah, me too. Wasn't sure why the car keeps turning off. Used to driving Auto so was wondering.

**Gem Cutter rushes in after his long absence, leaps onto the bar, and cries "Hear ye!"**

Gem Cutter, AKA Scott Hamilton, will be ranging around the UK for 2 weeks beginning Sunday. Here's where I'll be. My wife's never been to Europe, so this is a bucket-list excursion for us. If I am coming through your area and you'd like to meet, you can email me at js.hamilton2010@gmail, and we can see if a visit is workable. Half the trip's in Ireland. Here's where we'll be staying - it's a bus tour of fools, so here's the stops for the night:

14 July London, England. Arriving early Sunday morning. Will be heading to the Tower of London, snacking here & there, nothing big on the schedule. So this is an ideal day to meet anyone around London interested in meeting up for a bite or a drink.
15 July Park Inn Cardiff City Centre, Cardiff
16 July Ibis Liverpool Centre Albert Dock Hotal, Liverpool
17 July Red Cow Moran Hotel, Dublin
19 July Earl of Desmond Hotel Tralee, Co. Kerry
21  July Twin Trees Hotel and Leisure Club, Ballina, Co. Mayo
22 July Belfast, Ireland
23 July, Hotel Arrochar, Argyll and Bute, Scotland
24 July, Edinburgh, Best Western Braid Hills Hotel
26 July, Holiday Inn Leeds-Garforth, Leeds, England
27  July, London (we're running to Hampton Court)

If you're able to meet, please do reach out! I promise I'm cooler in person than my posts would suggest  8) And the first round's on me.

Sorry I've been absent. In the past 30 days I had a friend die unexpectedly (just 44) after flying home from the UK, my son's housewarming of his first-ever house he bought, a reunion of army buddies, and a bunch of other stuff. So yeah, a whirlwind tour to cap off a whirlwind year.
Cheers!
-Scott
