I've had a thought: We already have a thread for joke images related to fantasy, but how about a straight-faced one? There is plenty of awesome fantasy art online.

I've been watching Les Miserables on BBC.
I admit that I never read the book, nor have I seen any other adaptation (musical or musical film), since I don't like songs, so this is my first exposure to the story.

My reaction is: how can such a stupid story be so famous?  :o
And by 'stupid' I mean that the characters do completely stupid things! Several allow themselves to be blackmailed, over and over again; another takes it personally that a small robbery isn't punished with death; another just gives stuff away to the most obvious crooks like there's no tomorrow...
Honestly, I'm watching and getting so mad, hehe

I felt that way around 90% of the time whenever I'm exposed to classics, hahah.  ;D

Oh this is so cool!
Looking at the map and then the list, I think I live around Barnstoneworth (from 'Ripping Yarns' TV - ??) and Malbry (from Joanne Harris' books - which makes sense, as she lives nearby hehe) ;D

And I've been in Torchwood 3, I made a point to go to the door, it's full of photos and posters and dedications and plaques 8)

WHAT????? Torchwood S3 was SOOOO GOOOD. I was the best season. Children of Earth was probably the best Dr. Who universe series ever.

erm, no, I was not in the TV series of Torchwood, hehehe 8)
I meant on the map you posted, Cardiff is showing as "Torchwood 3", and I was in the actual place they used for filming, the entrance to the HQ. It's very cool!

I just happened to bump my eyes into "Castle Wyvern", probably the only spot on that map I would recognise. :)

Hmm. There's been an interesting development. Or at least the precursor to a development.

Every year the town authorities open up applications for what I'll translate as "artist pay". People who contribute to local culture in some way can send in an application, and those who are accepted get a pretty good payout, spread out over nine months. Earlier today I had a face-to-face conversation with the guy who arranges the committee. He explained the workings, I told him my general story, and the result is that I am going to write a novella in Icelandic, and then donate it to the town in some fashion.

IF I get accepted, of course.

And if I do get accepted I'll have a nice little side project to go along with my longer stuff, and finally make some actual money off my writing. And if I don't I'll have lost nothing by simply sending in an application.
