Get well soon, Peat.

And Jmack, that Merry Minuet... So funny, but sadly quite true in its essence.  :-\
Everything I wrote above is pure conjecture. I don't know what I'm talking about.

I'm a perfectionist but not very good at anything. That's why I rarely finish things.

If there's some cold medicine left... send it my way. It's impossible to stay healthy when both kids are sick (not because of the germs but because of the lack of sleep you get with two coughing kids).

The weather has been... odd around here, recently. We went through the season-appropriate bout of snow, but then suddenly it got warm. For a while there it was basically slightly chilly summer. One time we had 12 °C in the evening. Now the frost has been hitting for days. It's about -10 outside. But the sky has been perfectly clear, so there's no snow. Everything is just covered with a thin layer of rime. The wind has also been perfectly still, and yes, this is all very unusual.

Everything is just covered with a thin layer of rime.
Rime
noun
1. frost formed on cold objects by the rapid freezing of water vapour in cloud or fog

I had no idea what that was :o
I don't think I've ever seen it, either...

I slept over 10 hours and I feel much better today ;D
I planned on going running today, but it's raining - I'm not that sporty to go run in the rain....

Hoar Frost would be another term

if you have never seen it Yorkshire it must be a lot warmer than it used to be in the winter.

Oh, so that's what it is? Yes, I get that sometimes, but I thought it was something different...

Another one from messenger girl, this one from m3mnoch:
"i was super-busy with work. tho, now that's changed a bit, i'm hoping to get back to my love of writing.

man, i long for that.

tell everyone i said "hi!" and give them lots of love from me."

I have in the past had lengthy contact with a Danish publishing house, though with the state of publishing in Denmark they were ultimately unable to represent me, much as they liked my manuscripts. I don't know why it's taken me so long to look into other Nordic publishers, but I've now looked up some Swedish ones. I'm going to contact them in the coming days and see how they feel about representing an Icelander writing in English.

Still no real news from Romania and that whole business...

Definitely what real life is like. All the encouragements to m3mnoch and warm welcome whenever he returns!  :D

If I got a call from Romania, I’d just assume it was an evil telemarketer/scammer/hacker mafia.
Which, of course, is very unfair to the benign telemarketer/scammers.

@Nora, in the contest thread you mentioned being very busy and classes: give us an update of your life now, you're also being missed in the forum :) Are you studying, then? What, exactly? And still at Waterstone's?

I very nearly ignored that first email on just that basis, as it was so random. But I didn't, and here I am with a tenuous but actually real chance of proper representation.

Well, we're having the first proper winter storm. It's variation #27: A heavy downpour of small flakes, powdery enough to constantly blow into your eyes, while the ever-thickening blanket on the ground is moderately damp and heavy, making it a bit of a bastard to walk in. As opposed to being quite damp, and a total bastard.

Storm is still going strong. Town is half-submerged in white. Tomorrow morning is going to be an adventure in digging my car out, then crossing my fingers and just hoping it will actually make it out onto the main road.

This was me a couple of hours ago:
