Just curious. Has anyone ever read any Turkish authors? Or heard of any?
Not me, no, sorry :-\

No need to be sorry :) I'm only curious. Haven't you even heard of any, say, Orhan Pamuk (Nobel prize winner)?

I bought an Orhan Pamuk novel (“Snow”) when I was in Istanbul 8 years ago. I regret to say that it is one of about 200 unread books in my physical and electronic library.  :-[

But I just pulled it out and will read a few pages this weekend to see if it grabs and holds me.

Nice. But the white fluff in hood ruins the air of menace and mystery.

Also your pose reminds me of a vampire somehow. You should be crouching with a knife in hand.  ;D

What with the red glint of Eli's eyes in the picture, that's what came to my mind too. *blood sucking intensifies*

Here in Iceland we're in for pretty much a country-wide storm for the next two days. Various services are going to be closed, and they're set to close the roads in and out of the capital area. This is going to get brutal.

It's cloudy but still no rain. We'll run out of water if this continues..

Storms/ rainy season are a great excuse to stay indoors and read, I've found.  ;)

Except when you have to work... :-\

In my area we have really strong winds today, and then rain which comes horizontally! I'm supposed to go out for lunch with a friend and we normally walk to Subway, but I was telling him he might be driving today, hehe

Shouldn’t it be called Underground in the UK?

It's cloudy but still no rain. We'll run out of water if this continues..

Plenty of water over here. It's just white, sticky and heavy.

Idiot that I am, I decided to put on my snow suit and walk to the swimming pool before it closes down due to weather. It's snowing hard and heavy, but technically the temperature isn't that low. So you have to choose between wearing light winter clothing and getting soaked by melting flakes, or staying dry in a snow suit and getting really hot.

On the way home I shopped for the next two days, just in case, then spent some time dislodging my car from my nightmare of a parking lot and relocating it.

And now I'm going to play hermit for a while.

I've heard that some Scandinavian people (mostly old) prefer to stay at hotels in the southern part of Turkey where the weather is still warm throughout winter and the prices are cheap (Euro/Try parity is high).

Gosh, your comment reminds me of when I was living in Switzerland, it was snowing and I went to the swimming pool! They had a jacuzzi area outside, linked to the inside pool, and it was great to be in hot water with snow falling on my head ;D

Had a similar experience at a Onsen (hot spring) in Hakone near Tokyo. Chill in air, drifting snowflakes, full view of Mt. Fuji bathed in snow, warm sake and cold beer at hand....I would have enjoyed it if not for the presence of a couple of naked Japanese men in the same pool.  :'(
