The random spam-posts hawking fake passports and whatever else, I've come to view them as graffiti, a bizarre form of art in a new era.

To me they are ghosts trying to communicate with the living but cuz they're dead it's all garbled.

That said, a forum spammer gave me my favorite forum title ever, "Falsely Puffed Up Rascal Pig", so there are small benefits.

... from what I understand "puffed up" already means false. As in, pretending to be better than you are. So they were calling you... not not false? Was it a double negative that came out in plus?

Linguistic telltale there: Russian has no double-negative. "I never didn't do it" = "I never did it"

Well, it turns out that food festival I've been looking forward to has been delayed until March, and the website simply failed to mention that.

Instead I'm sullenly drinking at home.

Does that make you feel good?
(sorry if I sound preachy... I worry)

I just like relaxing with drinks on the weekends.

On an unrelated note, I just got the weirdest idea for a standalone comedy novel: A group of people consisting of minor stock characters from various genres being forced to work together. My initial idea is for an expy of a Stormtrooper, who literally can't shoot straight to save his life and is constantly getting brutalised, and a damsel in distress from cheesy old-school SFF who through bizarre bad luck is constantly getting abducted, held hostage or chained up outside a dragon cave. Somehow I just suddenly feel like writing about complete screwups.

Drinking alone rarely makes you feel good but it can take the edge off a hard day or a disappointment.
Alcohol is simply borrowing happiness from tomorrow.

Alcohol is simply borrowing happiness from tomorrow.

That's a good phrase. :)

Also... God... Damn... It.

That little idea of mine is now lodged in my head. There is no escaping it. It has taken root and will continue to develop until I write it down. Yet another one.

The Stormtrooper and DiD have been joined by a fairy tale witch who survived being stuffed into her oven, an unemployed Igor-type character whose vampire master was killed by angry villagers, and a fantasy goblin who really doesn't want to fight heroes with magic swords and plot armour.

We've booked the Christmas meal for my department, I've eaten mince pies already and I've started thinking about presents - and I'm not bothered :o

Huh. I went downtown for a Bingo-session arranged by the university, at our resident watering hole. As I left I walked out into the first snowfall this winter.

It's supposed to become really wintry here over the weekend.
And Bingo! That should be fun, did you win anything? 8)

I know!
In my defence, it's basically end of October and I'm going to Portugal mid November instead of actually December, but still I was surprised - one moment I was like "argh, there are christmas cards already for sale" and the next "we need to book the meal, if we want that specific Friday"

Edit: I think I'm still asleep. Writing this reply I kept thinking I was replying to @Henry Dale and being amazed at snowing in Belgium already ::)

It's not snowing here and glad for it. I don't like snow.  :P
I already got some Christmas gifts already myself. Trying to beat the congestion of people buying gifts at the same time.
