Having spiders means you have a good house. Spiders don't live in shitty houses.

Also, to cheer you up: the amount of spiders you see are just a minor fraction of the total amount of creepy crawlies in your home \o/

Anyway, I found out I'm much braver than I thought, although I use a gigantic amount of newspaper to kill them.
The option would be getting near and kill them or not getting near and having them roaming around, so no choice, really...

You do know that spiders are super useful? If suddenly all spiders died out, we had a massive problem. One spider eats about 2000 insects a year. That means that...

...Spiders eat 400-800 million tons of insects every year. That's about as much as all humans consume of meat and fish and all whales eat of seafood together and more than the total human body mass.

I still couldn't resist the urge to call for a flamethrower whenever I see one of them creepy crawlies, though. Solution to spiders? Burn the house down, and to be safe, the surrounding neighborhood.  ;D

Oh yeah? And what'll they be eating if we let them live?!

We've got to get them before they get us.

Y'all need to be quiet about your North American and Northern European spiders and such. When you wake up in the dead of the night in Iraq smelling the burnt-hair smell of a camel spider somewhere nearby, then come talk to me of bug-horror  8)

I'm also not opening it ;D
(I wonder if it's a trick and it's just the pic of a fluffy goat or something, hehe - can someone else check?)

Anyway, spiders can live *outside* my home. In fact, I've always got lots of webs out in the garden/decking, I only clean them out when they get too much.
... but go inside my castle and you *will* be destroyed >:(

It's horrifying. All right, I saw a video recently on two soldiers who freaked out and woke up their entire dorm trying to find the camel spider that snuck into their room. I knew why they were so terrified now.   :o

Mwahahahaha!!

They really are horrible. They run like the hand-shaped Alien thing (the one that impregnates the host): fast and erratic and scary. I saw one get stomped on, shake it off, and keep running. They smell strongly of burnt-hair. Eewwwwwwwww. I've been all over the world and seen all kinds of bugs - watched dung beetles do their work, watched huge wasps devour a sand viper, and encountered more scorpions than I can recall on three continents. But camel spiders win the prize for most horrible arthropod.
