Yes, I think things moved much quicker than the Met Office predicted.

In the meantime, this is me:

When I woke up, and 2 hours later:

And I did go out 5 minutes, and did this ;D

(I'm not really a bird-bath person, but it came with the house...)

Okay, I put that through Google's Celcius/Fahrenheit translator and... well... sorry but I'm not feeling very sympathetic.  :)

I've been working all day in an unheated greenhouse with the windows and gates wide open at a comfy 1°.  8)

It really is the humidity that makes or breaks things. When it's properly wet (which is most of the time around here), even 6° is the icy fingers of hell.

@ScarletBea

My God! Look at all that snow! It... like... almost fully covers the ground.

Would love some snow just now, 31C  ( nearly 88F) with hot wind yesterday. Too hot for me to go for walk,  although washing dried in 30 minutes.:)
Remember when someone here once said 19C too hot for them? Had to put aircon cold on that last night to get to sleep.

Where is Raptori when you need him to post that pic of the guy drinking coffee outside in a sleeveless shirt, surrounded by huge snowbanks, with the caption saying "Meanwhile in Finland"?  ???

Spoiler for Hiden:
*sighs*
Okay, fine. I'll do it.

Everything I wrote above is pure conjecture. I don't know what I'm talking about.

I'm a perfectionist but not very good at anything. That's why I rarely finish things.

Bradley, your comment made me think of something a friend told me when she was here last week. Looking at my 3 bookshelves in the living room, she sighed and said she'd always wanted a library at home.
I thought I didn't have that many, but it's because I've been comparing myself to all those photos of either real libraries, or people with huge roms full of books - people with just a few books (most of them) don't post photos online... ::)

...And I knew this stuff on online vs. real life about food, about houses, about bodies, and so on, and I thought the people who did that were silly, but I'd never applied that to my books!! Silly Bea!
And this leads me yet to another thought, that people shouldn't feel different but united, that's much better: when I start thinking about "they do this, they are that, not me", I should stop and either look at myself, checking if I really don't do the same, or search some more and find uniting things with them :)
(it's starting to work with my little road rages, hehe)

And maybe this is a post for the "Thoughts" thread, actually, hehe

You know, some years ago I started a personal tradition that I quite recommend. Every New Year's Day I write a letter to myself, going over the year's main events, my retrospective feelings on it, and what I expect of the coming year. I then put it in a big envelope (along with all the previous letters), and seal it. Then, exactly a year later, I open the envelope and read my old letters, then write the next one.

It's been nine years now, and this has become quite the interesting archive. I urge you folks to give this a try.

Happy New Year! :D

Not quite there yet in my part of the world. Still a little under two hours to go. I recently got back from the annual bonfire, and the amazing fireworks show that comes after, which I swear gets better every year. I'm now watching the annual news summary, to be followed by the annual comedy special, followed by my trip to a plateau in pretty much the dead centre of town that gives a perfect view of the insane amount of fireworks we launch at the sky every year.
