OMG, I'm so sorry, this came across not at all as I was thinking it, and came back to the forum tonight completely surprised by the reaction, as I totally didn't think forward enough.
I was actually totally impressed : I've often worn 'Mohawk' style aircut with sides buzzed myself, but I have super curly hair, so never bother even straightening it out, and my first reaction was to think "Whoooaa, I wonder what kind of gel/how much gel you need to make such a perfect straight line with so much hair?!"
So I was impressed, actually curious, but just followed that own private and unexplained train of thought and went for the greasy joke.
Totally not how I intended it, though I can see how backwards it was re-reading it now! I'm so sorry I didn't explain myself better (and went for a rude joke instead). I'm very far from being opposed or mocking, I've dyed my hair, cut it all sorts of shapes, shaved my head clean off, worn braids and indian braids, and admire people who have the time and patience to get to more extreme looks.
Hair is one of the very few areas I like to play with with some degree of vanity. I don't wear make-up, I don't paint my nails, I don't groom myself like a woman... But I'll happily invest in my hair once in a while for a good cut, and play with it.
I mean, when my mom had me, she used to wear her hair as two buns, one on each side of her skull, and wear panties as hats, with the leg holes to fit the buns. Then she dyed it orange and wore a sikh turban for months. When I was in my teens she shaved her head and wore fake butterfly tattoos all over her skull. Your hairstyle is almost mainstream compared to what my mom raised me up rocking.
So, deepest apologies if I made you feel like I was angling this as an insult, it was just a dark, raw joke.
This being said, I still am curious as to the amount of gel (or a special product?) that you use to make such a tall spike. I mean, I've seen plenty of punk haircuts with different lengths and colours, but I've never seen anyone get one so impressively tall and tidy. I'm genuinely curious. I'm also curious as to what it look like if you braided it all in Viking style, as I find it a great look.
Nah? Never seen a man rocking this style, which is a shame.
