Hey guys!
First, I'm going to apologize for this post ahead of time. I'm hesitant to say something in the first place out of fear of bothering anyone, but I thought I would at least ask.
Recently, there have been a lot of posts with photos. Just looking through FF now, there was someone who mainly communicated with visuals, and I had no idea what was going on. Before I've just shrugged it off. Pictures aren't apart of my life. There have been few times I've asked random people to describe things to me, but I don't care most of the time.
However, it seems that on here, the amount of pictures has skyrocketed during this past week. Is there anyway that, if you post a picture, you can put a brief description above or below it? It could be something as simple as a caption like, "this was my very first, 1970 model car thing." That's details. Granted, more description is better than less, but I'm perfectly happy with the minimum. Or perhaps, if you see a picture that wasn't described by the poster, you could quote it and put a little caption next to it.
I don't want to pressure anyone into taking up their time. I know a lot of us post from work, school, etc. I'm also not asking anyone to dredge up every single photo before this post and describe them. I don't need that much information. I'm just asking this to be taken into your consideration when posting photos. I know of other blind people who lurk around the threads, reading but never posting. This could help welcome them as well as other blind people in the future to the community.
If you do not feel like captioning or describing, that is perfectly fine. I don't want anyone to do something they're not comfortable with doing. I also don't want this to become a big deal, hence why I was hesitant to say something in the first place.
I am grateful that I have been accepted into the community with open arms, and love that everyone tolerates my craziness. And I greatly respect and enjoy everyone here. The fact that blindness has not changed the opinion of FF means a tremendous amount. I hope this request does not seem like a cry for attention or a... Well, something else that it isn't. I'm just doing my best to help me and other blind people better participate in the conversation.
Also, I apologize for what must seem like a ramble. Like I said, I hate bothering people about this sort of thing, and do my best to avoid it by coming up with other solutions. I am sorry if this interrupts the flow of the humor-filled and deep discussion discussion we have around here.

Hey, ultamentkiller, will be glad to do that for you, just have to try and remember until we get used to doing it automatically.   So glad you asked us as  I wouldn't have realised otherwise. Please don't hold back if there are any other things like this we can do to make it more user friendly for blind readers.

That is a perfectly fine and reasonable request and I'm sure most of us will do so gladly (if we don't forget it while posting... ). :)

Haha, oh you're a cutie, being so polite about asking! Of course it's fine. You know, as far as I'm concerned, I often forget that you're blind at all, so while I might be aware of it if I'm specifically thinking about you, I often don't remember that you'll be missin out if I'm just focusing on the picture I'm posting. So, my bad really, should have realised that.
Please be sure to nudge us as often as required until we make it a habit.

I guess you don't care much about what's posted on the Internet meme thread though?

@ultamentkiller Mostly you missed out on car porn but the reminder is certainly valid. Does it help if we caption photos? Aside from the memes thread everything else is normally text.

If the text is inside the picture, I'm not sure if my screenreader will read it. I would just put the text above or below where you post the picture.
As for internet memes, I just considered those a lost cause. :P Descriptions would still be lovely though. Might actually go there to look at it.

Memes is a lost cause many are visual gags or cool artwork.
I will try to remember to describe the photo when I link them.
