Nooo!!!  Gooo!!  It's amazing!!!!!

I'd honestly spend as little time in Thailand as possible and go to An Kor (it's in Cambodia near the border with Thailand and its AWESOME it's like the Machu Picchu of Asia) and Laos.  Penang is also in Malaysia near the Thai border and it has awesome food.  Seriously, tho, consider leaving Thailand!!!

Yeah, I think Thailand will be the base camp from which I explore the rest of SE Asia, if that makes sense. It's my initial destination, but I'm riding the tide and ending up wherever. Beauty of one-way flights haha :)

Well, @Bradley Cooper I think it depends solely on his preferences where he chooses to go, is it not? I do not entirely believe in planting our individual ideas into other's people mind, no matter how beneficial we meant it tobe.  I mean Thailand had many flaws and problems, to be sure, but it also had nice tourist spots to the north and south of the country. (Krabi, Chiangmai, Chiangrai, etc.) You just need to watch out for yourself, travel with care, and avoid shady deals and places, and you can pretty much enjoy the place.

This is all I know about Thailand. When there was talk of adding Thailand to my special forces group's area of responsibility, every single Green Beret I knew was like "Awwwww yeah!"

Not sure why they were so enthusiastic...

Haha I *hate* Bradley Copper :)  yes, everyone can find something they enjoy everywhere, but I have no qualms about spreading my biases-- especially against Thailand just b/c it's like tourist flypaper while getting off the beaten path errr paved superhighway to Thailand might open up some new adventures.

Well I met a girl. We made sweet love, she moved away, broke my heart.  ;D

But she left me with an awesome idea for a blog name...and over the past few weeks I've been learning how to build a website, how to write engaging material, how to make it my ow,n and now it's finally published and online!

Check it out! (Warning: It's a little raunchy and not for young eyes with the language and descriptors, so just a teeny warning for you all.)

www.dustindoes.com

Surprise! It has nothing to do with writing. It's essentially me and my life of experiments, life-lessons and off-and-on hilarity. Check it out if you would, and if there's something crappy about the site itself that needs a-fixin', please let me know  ;)

Also, Squarespace is pretty amazing. Anyone else use it?

Haha, I read your tinder post-- informative and entertaining all at once!  I can only use Tinder to entertain myself when I'm bored and on the toilet b/c over here people just use Tinder to troll each other.

OMG even your footnotes are hilarious:

Quote
Iceberged (ahys-burg-ed) - Seeing only 10% of someone in a Tinder profile and not fully comprehending that the other terrifying 90% is buried beneath the camera lens. Occurs when a single, desperate individual takes 134890 photos, manages to catch the right angle in one of them and then shows up on the date looking like the person that ate the person you were supposed to see.

The site looks great! I love how you have icons for each post!  I did www.NerdEmpire.org on Squarespace but I wasn't able to figure out how to make it look... like yours.  I suck at this web stuff!  What template did you use?

I used the "Om" template after trying about 5 others. It was painful, but found one that finally works for my needs.

You snagged an amazing domain name Bradley. Make hay with that shit!

Looking at the site, I'm not sure it's a template issue without knowing which one you use and how you've employed it. But I do know your site has a lot going on.

A few things that could improve your blog/site immediately:

1) Stick to a colour palette. Use three colours for almost everything and never use white on straight black. It's hard on the eyes, and any mobile users will run away like you're chasing them with a ball of white fire.

I did a little exercise and panned from your site to Fantasy Faction. See how your eyes relax when you pan over to F-F and then squint when they go to your site? It's because F-F used two shades of grey - One for their background and another lighter shade for their text. On your site it's two bold colours, and it's blinding on some formats and reminds me of MySpace. I think F-F is the kind of look/mood you're going for, so play around with the colours and find what works. Colour is EVERYTHING...as stupid as that sounds. But it separates the newbie from the professional in the eyes of the reader (and I say that as a complete newb).

2) No one cares about us. Not right away at least. And they certainly don't care to see a write-up on our front page with the who and why. They want CONTENT first and foremost; something they can sink their teeth into and GAIN from. You're trying to build a community (from what I gather), and I think it's a fantastic idea. But it can never be about you, or the creator, or even the people behind the scenes. If it becomes author-centric right off the bat, then no one will give two shits. I learned that with my first disaster of a blog  ;D hahaha. I wanted to promo my shit, but instead I just wasted a lot of my time. You bring in readers by giving them something, and then 5% might give back if your content is good and consistent.

So, remove your pic and description from the front page, throw it in a Contact or About page, and advertise your work elsewhere as well (maybe the About Page as well). Finally, tell them why they've come there, because you're not established yet (just like me). No ones buying what we're putting out, no matter how fucking sweet we are. YET!  :D

3) Remove unused navigation bar items. (ie: Forum, Magazine). Give them as few options to pick from as possible, and load those up with content. It can be overwhelming to have a lot of options in the nav bar for first time users. It can expand as the blog grows and you diversify (ie: forum is implemented). But for now, keep it simple.

4) The cover image has to go, unless you can put it into a banner or scale it down to a logo. It's a badass logo/image, don't get me wrong, but it currently takes over the entire screen of my laptop and automatically disorients me. The other issue I see with it is the colour, but perhaps you can work it into another colour scheme, or make it work in another way. Either way, something has to give there.

A lot of the shit I just laid out for you is from a lot of research. I didn't just learn this myself haha. I went to the successful blogs, checked out a ton of the crappy blog tour sites and found out what not to do (don't worry, yours is a step up! haha), and then took elements from the good and then put mine together over the course of a few days. Mine is SO far from perfect, but it's a start, and if you're interested in continuing with your webpage, I'd be very happy to give you any advice I can offer and perhaps get your opinion on my page in return!

And finally, thanks @Lady_Ty and @Bradley Darewood for the compliments. Means the world to me :) I can't believe how much fun messing around with Squarespace has been so far, but I'm super happy with the progress, and even happier you two found it enjoyable. Cheers :)

Cool man! Yeah I find Squarespace kind of sucks to use with a crappy computer. I moonlight at work to do a lot of the website formatting since my work computers are the bomb  ;D

Lemme know when you get to work on it!

Will do! I'm super impressed with what you did with your site, and I **suck** at getting things to look even remotely like I want them to on websites.

Another user site I'm pretty in love with is the one belonging to @RLStevenson -- it looks really good!

Thanks! I just built off a WordPress template. Took a few online tutorials and just a little tech savvy, but WordPress is very user friendly.

Yeah fantastic work @RLStevenson! Super impressed with what you've accomplished with that site. Visually it's appealing, it's easy to navigate, and everything is where it should be.

@Lordoftheword  I think my favorite thing is the icons you've got next to your blog posts-- did you make those yourself?  They look great!  Where did you get them? (and where did you get that pic of how to measure your penis? I swear to got I nearly spit out my food when I scrolled down)
