Dental floss is a basic requirement for civilization.

where as in the UK... not.  When I've been in former UK colonies, it's hard to even find floss to buy. And I had a dentist (i forget where but I think it was in the UK)  tell me that flossing was a myth and unnecessary and I was aghast. I think we might have had the flossing debate on here at one point in time. So yeah there's that

/sigh So floss is readily available in the UK and has been for the majority of my lifetime my local Tesco has 4 or 5 different products including strange bow shaped things with a length of floss attached and tape for those who don't want to pull string between their teeth. these are not just held in case Americans visit and are even sold to the English from time to time. The difference is we are largely not obsessive about flossing. The state of NHS dentistry is deteriorating at the moment, largely as a result of scumbag American companies buying up dental practices and running them as profit engines.

The various trade agreements on the table look like the NHS is going to be carved up by American companies and the money we have invested in these services during our working lives will be headed for offshore bank accounts so the few so please tell me about how affordable and wonderful it will be to be under the American system of healthcare./halfhearted rant over

Can you imagine anyone actually thinking that you eat the shell? Eggs are pickled and preserved in shells, but always peeled to eat.  ;D ;D

Is that where it originated? I thought FB, but I don't do either, picked it out of a Twitter post. ;)

haha, no I couldn't find a meme that captures how utterly abysmal and criminal the US healthcare system is (though out of all of Europe, I feel like the UK is heading our way the fastest). So I'll leave you with this instead:

Regarding the teeth tho, teeth are a class shibboleth in the Americas, consequently people here do put more effort into dental care even if it's not covered** (in Brazil and Colombia people even get braces just to show they can afford them.... go figure), where as in the UK... not.  When I've been in former UK colonies, it's hard to even find floss to buy. And I had a dentist (i forget where but I think it was in the UK)  tell me that flossing was a myth and unnecessary and I was aghast. I think we might have had the flossing debate on here at one point in time. So yeah there's that

**(side note, BECAUSE people often pay out of pocket for dental, the costs are way lower than other medical procedures, since insurance hasn't inflated all the prices)

Jesus rides dinosaurs in America?  Someone give me a green card!

As a European, I can not make a claim to deny this.

Britain is our cousin who is more difficult to connect with than everyone else because it seems to be having some mental issues that interfere with it  properly taking care of its own life.

The topic is "silly stuff from the internet", it wasn't meant to be offensive.
