Or chocolate ;D.

So, I was going to post this reply because it struck me as funny.
Whether it's true or not, I leave to others.
Probably not funny. Or maybe my reaction is funny. Or maybe...

Well Jmack... somehow I think that all of us who posted earlier don't have the necessary ingredients for that (i.e. a partner).
So friends, ice cream, chocolate (and beer for Eli) it is :D

Now you just need to think of some way to combine all of those.  :)

Well, today I found an amazing way to combine chocolate and ice cream, when I found out that there were Magnum minis extra dark chocolate (£2 for 6 in Sainsbury's!) ;D
Now I'd invite you guys to teleport into my living room, chat, eat that and talk books!

There you go, all combined 8)

Last Sunday: JMack installs a new old TV at his dad's place. There is a hi-def antenna connected to a digital converted connected to the TV. Two remotes, one for the TV (just for on/off) and one for the digital converter (channels and volume).

Friday, Dad (with Parkinson's disease, limited eye sight, slipping cognition, alone in his house while his wife is at work) calls JMack at work. Can't get the TV to work. JMack runs down at lunch (15 minutes each way), and finds Dad had been changing channels on the TV remote, which happens to work for channel 11 and nothing else. JMack puts TV back to channel 3 and explains not to use that remote to change channels.

Yesterday, Dad (whose wife is off training for a triathlon) calls JMack at home, just as JMack is about to go out to mow the lawn. TV says "insert DVD", and won't change that message regardless of any button pushing. JMack runs down to Dad's (45 minutes each way) and finds the Source button has been pushed. This time, JMack has brought electrical tape and tapes off every possible button on both remotes that Dad could possibly hit wrong.

Today, JMack and JMackswif pick up Dad from his house to meet his wife in city downtown for the big Sunday farmers market (she has been at the athletic club near there). JMack notices Dad pressed an on/off button on the Digital Convert remote that he didn't tape off. JMack decides he needs to permanently carry electrical tape in the car.

JMack wonders when the phone will ring next, and contemplates opening a TV service business for aged folk.

Maybe it's a bit different, but my dad does that kind of thing with his tablet, and then asks me how to fix it over the phone.
The other day was the deletion of a couple of columns on his 'google sheets' file where he keeps his list of dvds. Or how a bookmark disappeared from the main screen.

Good luck with your dad.

Good luck, Jmack. My grandmother freaks out if anything pops up on her computer, (they have no internet, so it's essentially just old MacAffee ads), but I understand the hassle.

Hate groaning, but I've applied to 9+ jobs over the past four weeks, plus emailed six law firms looking for a position for the summer. Heard back from one lawyer, asking for my resume but nothing else.

I've got enough monthly income to pay the bills but just barely. All I need is a seasonal job until my internship in the fall, graduate, and then get a full time, entry level position in this town until next August. Then I can go to law school or master's school elsewhere.

Also don't much like my gf being 2K miles away for the next three months. She's doing mission work in Vancouver, which is nice and all, but long-distance is never fun.

Can i hijack the sadness thread to brag about myself?

I finished writing a speech at 4:30am, worked on some applications, slept like 1 hour, then went to this conference to give it as part of a 4 person panel.  I accidentally left half my notes in my backpack, but still killed it.  The next three presenters (Like Directors of Institutes and people that make 3 times what I do) all made reference my speech.

Also this girl I went on a coffee date with last week sent me this text today: "You're charismatic AF. I was captivated by your rundown of the formation of Europe.  Spent the morning learning about feudalism." Granted, I had sex with her after coffee, so that might have something to do with the compliments (maybe she was secretly thinking "Oh god would he shut up about feudalism already") but I like to think she would have said those things anyway.

So anyway, I feel smart.
