Lovely photos guys! And Merry Christmas to everyone :) Mine was quiet but fun - I actually cooked 0_o
What books did people receive? I nabbed a YA novel by Francesca Lia Block - Dangerous Angels and A Harry Harrison SF novel - The Stainless Steel Rat Wants You (I'm mad for the SSR!)

I only got one Fantasy Book as I'd already ordered loads before Xmas and so asked people to be careful not to buy me copies lol.

I got a staggering amount of underwear and smelly stuff (after shaves, deodorants, etc) - maybe someone is trying to tell me something? =/

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!!

I had my parents and sister up here as well as myself, husband and our two kids, so it's been kind of busy since Christmas Eve!!  Thankfully, it's all quiet now as our visitors have gone home and the kids are happily upstairs playing with their heaps of toys.   ;D  I've been reading the Black Prism which I started on Christmas Day, loving how it's different from the Night Trilogy, it's good so far!!

I got the Black Prism, Mistborn and the Magician's Apprentice for Xmas, so I'm hoping to finish the Brent Weeks book before 1 January!!!

=_=*

Xmas is dreadful this year all over again. Work is mental, I'm scratched, bruised, over worked and my back hurts. People are at their worst and keep me from doing my job, which is not to sell book at all. My backpacker completely defines the 25th: All the long term girls will invade my room since it's the largest, so I can't sleep in, have to move my stuff and put up with ridiculous amounts of drinking for 10am with a bunch of people I half don't know and 2/3 dislike. Then I'm forced to clean for the hostel. And then I can't use the kitchen, as they make up a "Xmas feast" I'd have to pay for while not choosing what to eat, plus having to help with service and dishes!
In short : I have to go find some cafe or restaurant that is open that day, then hopefully everyone goes out to drink and party and I can sleep. And next day... back to work.

Its driving me crazy. I've never hated Christmas as much as I have these two years. It's cold, but no snow, everyone is sick and I have nowhere to relax.

Only good point so far, a friend I've made at my work's cafe offered me some unexpected, very thoughtful presents. I had plans on getting him something and he totally cut the grass under my feet!
He offered me Delany's Nova, and a copy of Hellboy I had not even read! Wild.

I really, really hope you all have much nicer holidays than I do and get to feast and receive nice presents.

Merry Christmas everyone. Woo hoo! I'm having an almost 2 weeks holiday from study and going back to my home country.  8) Holiday season is a merry one indeed.

Poor @Nora :(
Can't you now afford to rent somewhere, instead of remaining in the hostel? Even a flatshare would mean you'd have your own room and private space (and no cleaning the hostel!)

I hope you manage to find even a little bit of space/time to relax this year :)

And @S. K. Inkslinker, I didn't know you were in a different country. So, you are in Thailand, right?, and where is your home country? (it's ok if you don't want to say!)

Yeah Bea, I went and spent 100£ on a whole, empty flat of my own for the 24/25th. Literally to spend time alone in peace and quiet!!
Rest from the madness.
