Business Cards
« on: April 27, 2011, 07:09:32 PM »
If you have business cards, where did you create and purchase them? I'm mostly interested in places that I can view and edit online. I'm looking to be moving soon, so I need to purchase new business cards with my new phone number, address, and web URL on them.

Also... How does one generally go about distributing business cards? Sounds like a silly question, but I don't network with other people in the field I'm going into (for shame, I know). I'm terribly shy at talking with people in person, especially if I don't know them. Any ideas on how to get one's cards out and about in the general populace?

When I made business cards, I basically used a print your own kit. Depending on the base cardstock one uses, I think it looks okay.

As for the second question, it depends on what you plan to do as a result of those business cards. I used mine at conventions and gave them to people I talked to about books. If nothing else, I know I just gave them a potential bookmark. Point in fact, I carry a small supply of them in my purse for that kind of random conversation. :)

Both of these are fantastic ideas. Thank you. :)

Moo.com is *fantastic*. Cheap and quality. Plus, their mini-cards are good if you don't feel like acting like a "business". Cards are a really good way of keeping in touch with people at cons and bars and signings and stuff, as Fellshot says... handing one out isn't seen as pushy, just friendly. It helps to ask if they have one as well, so it doesn't just feel like a one way thing.
