Amazing Facts - True or False?
« on: April 28, 2011, 08:05:48 AM »
Which of these facts are true, which are false?

1)   An Indonesian book on President Obama has set the World’s record for Thickest Book at 5,247 pages.

2)   A scientific study on peanuts in bars found traces of over 100 unique specimens of urine.

3)   You can’t fold a piece of paper in half more than 7 times

4)   A rat can swim for 72 hours non-stop. It can jump down 50 feet without injury. It can squeeze through a half-inch gap, leap three feet, climb vertical surfaces and walk along ropes. It can survive longer than a camel without water.

5)   Elephants are the only mammal that can’t jump

6)   The highest mountain in the known universe is Olympus Mons, a giant volcano on Mars, almost three times the height of Mount Everest.

7)   No two countries with McDonald’s franchises have ever gone to war.

8)   Spiders' silk is five times stronger than steel and 30 times more stretchy than nylon.

9)   Polar Bears are left handed and can be used to break the ice.

10)   In 2008, Discover magazine calculated that, if every bit of information stored in a chip comprises 40,000 electrons, the total weight of all the information flowing across the internet – books, music, photographs, emails, orders, porn, spam – is two millionths of an ounce – about the same as a grain of sand.

1) Dunno
2) Isn't that an urban myth?
3) I thought that was 8 times, could be wrong though!
4) Probably mostly true, they are the most adaptable creature on the planet and will probably survive armageddon (along with flies!)
5) Maybe...
6) I think that's true
7) Believable but probably not true
8) True
9) Isn't that a chat up line?!
10) It's probably true that they calculated it, debatable whether they got it right though  ;D

How'd I do?!
