A Game of Random Questions
« on: February 15, 2011, 10:58:31 PM »
Here's the deal:

Ask the person who will post below you a completely random question. They answer, then then ask the person posting below them a question.

Question: If you could see a movie of your favorite fantasy novel, which would it be and who would direct it?

Chase the Morning by Michael Scott Rohan, to be directed by Peter Weir.

Question: Assuming you are, or want to be, a published fantasy author and can choose only one option, would  you rather be universally acclaimed by critics and colleagues but barely make rent from sales, or sell a buttload (that's a metric buttload, so it's even bigger than those tiny imperial buttloads) of books while being sniggered at and mocked by your colleagues and the critics alike?

Truth be told? I'd rather sell a buttload and be laughed at.  I can always buy a good review or two!   ;D

If you could spend a day with any fantasy author, living or dead, who would it be, and why?

Trudi Canavan - The woman who first introduced me to fantasy!

Question: Which fantasy book/series do you wish could have been continued on had the author not died? (Thus preventing other authors continuing their work)

Answer: Uhm, err, Wheel of Time, if only that I could read them eventually? Or perhaps my true answer that I wish Arthur C. Clarke lived forever, so I could continue reading his wonderful books.

Question: (Non-fantasy related!!!) Who would be your dream (living or dead) lineup for a music festival (Friday/Saturday/Sunday headliners and second acts...)

Id so have to go with Nirvana, Metallica, Ozzy, Nightwish, Within Temptation, Eluveitie. And thats just naming a few off the top of  my head. I could so not put any of that in order, but it would be a hell of a weekend or week long rock fest. Sides, I listen to basicly everything but rap, though there are a few rap songs I like.

Music themed question then.

What song would go best with your favorite book.

Your question is evil, having to choose a favorite book.  I'll answer around your question.  I'm reading the fifth book of the Dark Tower, Wolves of Calla, and I've been listening to the Red Dead Redemption soundtrack while I do.

EDIT: Forgot my question.

Which fictitious place would make the best vacation?

Question:  Who would win in a fight...between Murcatto...and The Bride??

Murcatto, hands down. Ms Kiddo would look for an outright confrontation, a duel with swords. Monza would just stab her in the back, poison her, shoot her with a gun if the duel took place in the Kill Bill universe or with a crossbow if it took place in her own or any one of a dozen other sneaky ways of killing her without having to risk a face to face fight.

Question: What would you rather have on your walls, fine art or pop art?

That's a tough question. The Roman Empire was definitely more efficient in many ways, especially in the managing of the armies. But the Roman Republic has often been seen as a sort of golden age for european democracy, and european civilisation.

Still, I'll go with the Roman Republic. Of course, there were a lot of things that could have been better (women's rights, slavery, and the oligarchal system of it all) but it still served as the basis for many of our modern republics and democracies. Their system of election was, of course, rather rigidly oligarchal (but let's face it, for all our talk of democracy, many western countries do today suffer that same problem), but plebeians always had a chance to rise to office, through oratorial skill. And even though patricians held most offices, the plebeians had their Tribunes to represent their interests. And the Republic did produce the most skilled orators of their age, and perhaps of any age, Marcus Tullius Cicero chief among them, in my opinion.

My turn! :D
