#22 Pushups Challenge
« on: August 09, 2016, 01:11:08 PM »
I've been called out by Jonathan Ashman for the push-up challenge!

The challenge is 22 push-ups for 22 days to raise awareness on the fact that 22 AMERICAN VETERANS will commit suicide today.

I don't think the fact I'm British gives any reason not to take part. 22 people is a truly sad, startling number of people and people should be aware of it.

I don't want to call people out, but if this is something you feel you can do then please take part too...

I am a US military veteran, and I don't know if I am the only one or one of many on this board, so I'll step up and say thank you for your engagement.

In my time I served with members of the British Military, these being members of the RAF, the paras, and some Scots who damaged my psyche with renditions of the famous British Baboon.

I took a sort of go at this earlier and again just now splitting it into two is about doable, but 11 at a time is a real challenge for this ancient, broken and  out of condition body of mine. If I can stick with it (Knees) I aim to do 22 in one go.

I did the challenge on FB but I felt like I was preaching to choir, since most of my friends are vets or related to vets. I videoed each day, and to make it interesting I tried to incorporate interesting military/veteran anecdotes. Not a bad experience.

Way late to this, but I'll start tomorrow.

Sadly I have failed to keep this up in the chaos of the last week, not that I can actually hit 22 press ups in one go at the moment a damning indictment of my fitness in general. I will start again as time allows.

Yesterday was my Day 1: 15 in one set, 7 in the next
Day 2 (today): 16 in one set, 6 in the next.

awww, man.

i'd forgotten about this.  if rostum and jmack are doing it . . .  *sigh*

be right back.

edit:  here's my proofs.  it's funny, on that last one, you can see me hesitate.  i was like, "was that 20?  or 21?" -- i totally lost count.  upon further review, neither.  i did 23.

srsly.  who let this guy in?  and, for real, who loses count?

I frequently lost count - and I spent 23 years in the army counting them out loud...

And I forgot to do at home, so whipped off 22 in one set here at the office earlier.

i totally picture your tie, bunching up on the ground as you push up and down.

got day 4 done this morning!  it's looking like it'll be a "while the shower is warming up" thing.
