Speech Marks
« on: June 24, 2012, 09:54:26 PM »
Hi,

Does anyone know what the standard for speech marks in the anthology will be?

In the UK most books have it like this:

'Speech,' he said.

But in the US I think it's

"Speech," he said.

Should I use single quote marks for speech or double quote marks?

Thanks
Matt

Hi,

I was basing it on authors like J K Rowling and Terry Pratchett using 'speech'.

Does it matter for out entries?

Thanks

Certainly it hasnt been specified that i have seen. I imagine the editors will format it to their own requirements.

I'm English, and I was always taught that its ".

I always put it down to a preference...
