Just finished Asterix and the Missing Scroll. I didn't realise the series was still being written. Snorted a few times.

I still have not finished Ape Sapiens and Hellboy in Hell keeps looking at me expectingly.

I also have Knights of the Old Republic on top of my reading pile again.

I'm reading Death Vigil by Stjepan Sejic and I cannot recommend it enough. Fantastic!
"Gifted? Join the Death Vigil in their ongoing war against the ever-growing power of the Primordial Enemy! Only catch is you have to die first. Become a corporeal immortal Death Knight and obtain reality-altering weaponry in the never-ending battle between good and evil."

Also, thoroughly enjoyed Rat Queens volumes 1 and 2 recently.
"Who are the Rat Queens? A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they're in the business of killing all god's creatures for profit. It's also a darkly comedic sass-and-sorcery series starring Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cleric and Betty the Hippy Smidgen Thief. "

I've just finished Darth Vader, an on-going modern series that kicks some butt, and shows Vader's adventures to inquire after Luke between episode 4 and 5.

I've recently finished Batman: Dark Victory and Batman: Cataclysm. Batman is the only "superhero" series I'm interested in, basically because he's isn't a superhero (i.e. human who some fluke of nature is enhanced by some supercharged somethingorother). Earlier I somewhat enjoyed "The Woods" by Tyrion/Dialynas, but I fear it might be somewhat too YA further on. Also enjoyed "Wytches" by Snyder/Jock.

Oh, I totally agree. I don't care for any superheroes, but Batman is the notable exception of being the only one that can get me interested in a story with him.

That's also what I like about Hellboy. He's not actually a superhero, he just looks a bit like one. But the stories are completely different.

That's unfair. There are loads of interesting superhero. Daredevil, who is blind, is a hero by day as well as a lawyer defending the less fortunate, and lives in the impoverished Hell Kitchen. Frank Miller has written some amazing runs about him. Animalman, who stands for animal rights and the environment, but also has his own family and has starred in a seminal run by Grant Morrison. I think also the Hulk is fascinating in the right hands - a modern day Jekyl and Hyde.

Okay guys I also was only interested in Batman but I read Hawkeye: Volume 1 by Matt Fraction and it's one of the best comics I've read, that whole series is fantastic and i haven't got anywhere near going through them yet. You might think why would a comic about Hawkeye be interesting but the great idea they take is that he's not being a superhero in it, the comic is when he's not working with the avengers - he's saving stray dogs, helping neighbours with rent from gangsters, and all other problems he accidentally gets himself into, it's also very funny.

I also recommend Daredevil and the current Ms Marvel with Kamala Khan who is great. And since the Netflix series is about to start, I am desperate to read more of Alias, the comic Jessica Jones stars in. Easily one of the most gripping and original takes on a superhero with a noir/detective feel.

OK, I'll give you Daredevil. I watched the series on Netflix and it wasn't all bad. Same with (Green?) Arrow but they are not "superheroes" according to my own definition. As far as comics go I've never really been into others. Tried Green Latern in the wake of the movie, but not for me ...

Funny you should mention Green Arrow and Green Lantern in the same post.
You need to go in the way-back machine and find the Neil Adams series for a combined GL/GA comic book in the 1970s. Wonderful art and fun stories about American culture at the time. GL and GA, two friends and comrades from way back, take two very different views of politics, culture, etc.

Not at all the GA or GL you see in the TV show/movie.

I have never really got the appeal of Green Arrow.Sounds rather Batmanlite, but one day when UK netflixs gets the rights, I'll give the tv show a go. Green Lantern at its best should be epic space opera surely? Haven't read much GL, but can see the appeal.

Green Lantern is *awful* and the sooner we all accept it and move on the better. :D

If you want some sci-fi space superhero stuff Martian Manhunter is the way to go.
