I've just watched The Princess Bride for the first time ever today, and I now am finally able to understand why it's such a cult classic. My especially favorite scene was Westley's duel with Inigo. I liked how they always remained calm and civil despite the trying to kill each other thing that's going on, and how even from that moment I knew they'd become friends in the end.

This movie also featured one of the most brilliant and iconic lines in cinematography history (in my opinion, hahah)

Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepared to die.

What a great line that was.  ;D

Has anyone seen 'Cursed'? I've just watched Daniel Greene's review of it. It looks... Um... Interesting?

It is not great. I have no desire go past the first episode. Merlin is great though (Floki from Vikings).

I did get that impression. Good King Arthur adaptations seem to be a bit thin on the ground these days.

My child went through a BIG Shaun the Sheep period. That was fun. Now she's on Bluey, which is also fun, sort of like Peppa Pig in being "accurate comedy about kids and parenting" but very Australian.

We grown-ups are watching something called Zomboat, about a group of misfits who escape the apocalypse in Birmingham by commandeering a narrowboat and very slowly outrunning the zombies.

Is anyone watching Brave New World?

I watched the first and second episodes and I'm not sure what to think.

Against my better judgement I did end up watching 'Cursed' and wow is it a confusing mess. Where and when is it supposed to be set? If Wikipedia is to be believed, the original legends are largely a twelfth century take on sixth century history, but there seems to be this army of Christian fanatics that sprang out of a pagan society and burn witches, which is more of a seventeenth century thing. At that point I just threw up my hands and decided to divorce it from real history, but then one of the fanatics brought up the Holy Roman Empire, which apparently was only called the Holy Roman Empire in the thirteenth century so...

I guess 'Cursed' is set somewhere in the Holy Roman Empire. Is Uther the Holy Roman Emperor now? The King of Bohemia? Why is everyone apart from the Red Paladins pagan in this bit of the Holy Roman Empire? Why is thinking about this generic Netflix show making my head hurt so much?

Re-watch of Sherlock Holmes 1&2, Robert Downey Jr version. Love the use of The Dubliners' "Rocky Road to Dublin". #3 not coming until Dec 2021 unfortunately.

I think this version counts as steampunk.

As Cameron Johnston said, Merlin is great!  They should have spent more time on Merlin

I've been watching HBO's The Sopranos lately. It's been pretty great so far, with the conflicts both in Tony's mobster family and actual family. No wonder why it's praised as one of the best gangster shows on tv. (There's also a lot of references to gangster movies, like The Godfather, Casino, Scarface, and Goodfellas, and I loved that as well)

So yesterday the YouTube game critic Joseph Anderson released his long-awaited critique of 'The Witcher 2'. It was five hours long. I have never played the game, nor do I have any intention of playing it, but I watched all five hours of that video and I have no regrets.

Watched Knives Out again. What a brilliant movie!

We watched this just last night! (A rare evening where my husband didn't have to work until midnight and I wasn't writing.) It is indeed a brilliant and delightful movie, a wonderful mash-up of French farce and manor-house murder mystery.

We are watching a bunch of things at the moment.

Cursed - I enjoy King Arthur tellings, this in interesting.  But as another poster said upthread, it’s a mess as a historical accuracy.  Not that I think it needs to be historically accurate, but it’s mixing up all sorts of periods in it.
But Floki (Merlin) is excellent and there should be more of him.

Cobra Kai - just started this today.  A continuation of the Karate Kid movies.

Lucifer - this season has been interesting with the variety of genres it’s going through.

Dirk Gently’s Detective Agency - I much preferred these books to Hitchhikers Guide, we’ve just finished the first season.  KittenShark made me laugh each time.

Star Girl - another DC superhero show.  On the lighter end of the genre.  Pleasant enough to watch at dinner.
"Logic, my dear Zoe, merely enables you to be wrong with authority." The Doctor - Wheel in Space

"It's not destiny!  It's a crazy scientist with a giant snake!" Sinbad - For Whom the Egg Shatters
