Reaper was a great show!! I was really disappointed when that got cancelled. And I really liked The Gates too, but that only lasted one season  :(

Whenever I get asked whether I prefer Star Wars or Star Trek my answer is always Stargate!  ;D
Love SG-1, Atlantis was good but they completely lost the plot for SGU - although Robert Carlyle was, as always, awesome. My favourite ST is Voyager, then TNG. DS9 I just couldn't get into as much although there were some really good episodes. Enterprise was a major disappointment, I stopped watching about 2 episodes in to series/season 2.

I really like Being Human too - I've only seen the UK version so far though so I don't know if the US version is as good. And Vampire Diaries vs True Blood? Vampire Diaries is more 'Twilight'-ey and True Blood is definitely more 'Adult' - and just plain weird at times, which is fun.

Dollhouse, Haven, Alphas, Warehouse 13, Lost - all good.
Once Upon A Time, Firefly, Chuck, Torchwood - really good
A Town Called Eureka ( I think this might just be 'Eureka' in the US), Fringe - really really good

I couldn't get more than a few episodes into Sanctuary, mainly because Amanda Tapping will always be Samantha Carter (Stargate SG-1 + Atlantis) in my head, and also because although she has relatives in the UK apparently, she obviously doesn't spend much time here because the accent really grated.

Farscape and BsG (Battlestar Gallactica) I started watching but kept getting side-tracked so still haven't seen them all, although I did enjoy them and do intend to finish them one day!

Andromeda was ok - bit hit and miss for me.

Babylon 5 I enjoyed, but I don't think I ever finished that either - they ended that one with a couple of specials (not sure if it was a mini series) after cancellation so that they could end it properly.

How could I forget Alphas and Eureka? xD

And I'm so glad to find someone that doesn't hate Voyager and think Captain Janeway is the second worst captain in the history of Star Trek. It was the first show I watched after the cringeworthy Star Trek: Enterprise. After hearing all the mentions of it, I think I'm gonna give SG-1 a try. After all, who can say no to 10 seasons of great sci-fi? :)

I watched the first episode of Dr. Who, but didn't really like it that much.

Shun the nonbeliever! :D

Is this the thread were I admit I'm addicted to House Hunters? :P Along with Swamp People?

Used to watch Swamp People all the time. Only thing I could watch in TV that wasn't in Bosnian. And see how no one is shunning me? They like me more! -insert maniacal laughter-

Second worst? I think she's THE worst, period! Have you seen SFdebris' "opinionated Star Trek reviews"? He makes a very good point about Janeway: she is pretty much the villain of Voyager. Look at this one for example: http://sfdebris.com/videos/startrek/v840.asp

I watched the first episode of Fringe on your recommendation and.. I'm not sure. I may watch more at some point to give it more of a chance, but I think for now I'm gonna stick with Warehouse 13. Watched the first episode yesterday and it looks to have a lot of potential. It also reminds me a great deal of the SCP project, a wiki for collaborative fiction in the style of factual briefings about various paranormal objects and phenomena, secured by an organisation whose job is to protect the world from them. It's fun to browse, check it out: http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-series

I'd have to second Jian - Fringe gets really good; you just need to give it a good go.

Yeah, I think I'll keep it in mind for when I'm done Warehouse 13. W13 has been on my "get around to" list for ages now, and somehow I just never did get around to it.

I watched Mad Max again last night. Damn, now that is 'gritty'. Pretty brutal, I can't believe it went from that to the singing kids and Tina Turner in Thunderdome...still love the series though.

Fringe: Brilliant, especially when the main story kicks in at the end of the first season.

Supernatural: Get passed the first season and it gets awesome, takes the piss out of everything. Although don't watch after season 5, as they kind of run out of ideas and it gets rather boring.

Warehouse 13: Never watched, and after watching an interview with one of the main actors I'm not sure I want to. He is the boring unexpressive person I've ever seen and can't imagine what he's like on the show. Also he seemed kind of bewildered by the fantastical nature of the show....

I haven't watched Voyager in years, but I don't remember it being that bad...

Firefly: Still the best SF show!

Just got all 4 seasons of Battlestar Galactica, doing a big rewatch over the next month or so!

Also planning on a rewatch of Babylon 5 and Space: Above and Beyond.

Anyone watched Sanctuary? I tried a few episodes but it was just awful.

The Walking Dead is great.

I did watch a bit of Falling Skies, but found the characters incredibly sanctimonious and they really annoyed me. They could have done so much with the show but it just felt like a fluff piece...

Now, if only I could get my hands on all the X-Files...my collection would be complete :)

True Blood was pretty cool, but eventually I couldn't handle it anymore. Ana Paquin ruined it for me, I really have a problem with every character she plays. Sooki is the most annoyingly 'damsel in distress' cliched character I've come across...I really couldn't take all the obviously stupid decisions she made and then had to get rescued, and how everyone was obsessed with her just didn't seem believable to me...the bad vampire dude (the guy who owned the club) was pretty cool though.

Gotta agree about Falling Skies. My biggest problem with Falling Skies was that one of the main characters was a child. I always hate it when there's a kid on a show, kicking ass, or something like that. Also, on True Blood, I was really distracted by Anna Paquin's teeth gap. xD

To Seven, I never really disagreed, to be honest. But I didn't really watch Voyager because of Janeway, but because of the other members of the cast. Really liked the Doctor (Not the one from Dr. Who, obviously) and Tom Paris. I actually liked Vampire Diaries after the first few episodes. If you try to explain the story arc, though, it sounds really stupid. But I actually found myself caring for the characters, unlike in True Blood, so that was a plus for me.

Can anyone tell me if X-Files is any good?

Early season one of Stargate is a bit crap. It takes a bit of time to grow its beard, so to speak, but when it does it's amazing. I would say the closest show to it in terms of feel is Buffy, actually - it has the same self awareness and humour.

It's much like DS9 which I watched for the first time recently in that season one ends up being nothing like what the rest of the show will be.

I loved the Doctor too. Robert Picardo is always fantastic. I liked Seven too, mostly because I relate to her so strongly. We're very much alike.

I would have mentioned Firefly, as everyone seems to do at one point or another, but I've now seen the whole series twice in rapid succession (still haven't seen Serenity, though), because it is absolutely amazing. Joss Whedon is a master. My three favorite shows of all time are Firefly, Doctor Who, and Arrested Development.

Babylon 5 anyone? I've just finished watching season 3 and convinced that Joss Whedon and J. Michael Straczynski attended the same class of how to destroy your viewers emotions and expectations.
I will expand your TBR pile.

I loved Babylon 5 when I watched it. Haven't in quite a few years though. All this talk of my favourite series has made me go out and get them. Got complete firefly, Battlestar, fringe, space: above and beyond, and most of the others.

Babylon 5 is the only one I haven't got any of! Going to remedy that asap :)

No! Not at all, story wise it's more like Battlestar Galactica with a long running story arc over a number of seasons. Much more about people, politics, issues kind of stuff. Star Trek was completely episodic. Babylon 5 could be compared to DS9 a bit though.
