Yeah, I think switching the franchise to 007: Jane Bond would be a clumsy way to be woke, and I dread to think about the screamy, frothy-mouthed reaction from the internet's dank, dark corners. There's nothing wrong with continuing to make old-fashioned, somewhat silly male power fantasies, as long as the female leads aren't useless airheads.
But I WOULD like to see a female action spy series, and I think a spinoff would be a good way to get it going. The association might help against that tendency of female-led action movies to simply be badly made. I guess because Hollywood doesn't have faith in those and so doesn't hand the reins to their A-talent.
Sorry I'm jumping in way late but
I'd be perfectly happy watching old reruns of Peta Wilson and new re-runs of Maggie O in various incarnations of La Femme Nikita any day over 007.
