I must be a strange species, as I love fantasy books but superhero films usually leave me cold.

I did watch "Wonder Woman" and thought it was ok but could have done without the big fight, and I tried watching "Deadpool" recorded from TV, but ended up fast-forwarding a lot of scenes...

Im pretty sick of superhero films myself (hence my rant in the superhero thread) but somehow this one got me right in the feels.  Plus I think they accomplished some MC elements I was trying to go for in my fantasy WIP, but failed at so it was great to see it done better than I could pull it off.

It's def a movie that I think would have appeal beyond superhero fans

It's a cut above pretty much all of the superhero films out there and I heartily recommend it. It's funny and has lots of heart.

Decided not to start a new thread for “Spiderman: Far from Home.”

Just saw it Thursday night with Mrs. JMack.
I had a great time.
She fell asleep. But then, she nearly always falls asleep in movies.
Mrs. JMack at the Movies = the world’s most expensive nap.

But anyway, it was a hoot. Lots of laughs, good action, nice performances all around.
Someone described it as a sweet teen comedy draped in superhero stuff. That works for me, too.
