I have not seen a single episode of this show, but I lament its conclusion because it's been a source of endless imagery of Miranda Otto (who I adore) looking fantastic and badass.

Netflix cancels Altered Carbon, a science fiction show

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/altered-carbon-cancelled-by-netflix-after-two-seas/1100-6481460/

oh no ...

Probably because there had been such poor reception for Season 2. I was one of the people who absolutely loved Season 1 (hey I almost changed my pen name to S. K. Kovach, so there's that). I've heard that Season 2 was horrible though, especially with how the main lead was changed (I know it's like that in the books, but still). It made sense that they'd cancel it, but it still kinda sucks though.

I don't think the switch of lead was the problem, but I know how people love their ensemble casts. The fact that Poe inexplicably got brought along shows that they tried their hardest to cater to that, which I think was a mistake. They should have embraced the concept fully instead. But the problem was a weak narrative, possibly because they strayed too far from the books and ended up with some poor bunch of writers trying to patch it up into something useable (and they weren't up to the task).

I have kinda forgetten the storyline already! Which is a shame because book 2 was amazing. I think they needed to embrace more of the books' weirdness with the avaian Martians. Anthony Mackie was great btw.

If I recall correctly book 2 isn't even on Harlan's World? That was book 3. They skipped to the finale, maybe predicting they wouldn't get renewed. But I'm just speculating.
