I thought the first season was pretty good and it didn't end weirdly like the movie :p
We're finally delving into those other worlds as well.

Ooooh!

My first reaction was "that is NOT how I imagined the tower" hehe, but I guess that was to be expected.

And they're bringing Mary already? They do like to mix all books, don't they? ::) I suppose since there was such a big chunk of book 2 in season 1, they had to start on book 3 now in season 2...

I'm curious as to what the angels look like. I much preferred the first series to the movie, and actually, I preferred it to the book as well, but the bear duel was a bit rubbish in my opinion. One thing the film did better. So hopefully this time round they have a bit more budget to do the weird stuff justice.

I've just watched episode 2 and afterwards I had to go check the books: I was absolutely convinced that Mary Malone only appeared in book 3, but it's actually in 2, in the "right place" of the series.
She looks and acts very much like I imagined her, so I'm happy - that's one of my favourite sub-plots of the trilogy (still wondering how they'll do the Mulefa, do they have enough money for the CGI??)
I wish they'd tone down/reduce the whole Magisterium stuff, I'm sure it wasn't this bad/long in the books...

I'm also noticing there are a lot more daemons now, maybe they heard the complaints about season 1?

So far so good. I thought the first season had a great look to it, a little more modern than I'd have liked in places, but not bad at all - a little weird a little choose-your-punk-suffix. The pace dragged from time to time though. Thus far, season 2 seems a little tighter, fewer slow moments transpiring slowly.

I'm the worst for being annoyed at tv adaptations, but I'm surprised at this season. There are small things different from the books, of course, but I can mostly overlook them (e.g. stop making so many scenes with the Magisterium!)

And the other day I discovered that the main baddie priest, the top guy, is the father of the actress playing Lyra ;D they must have mentioned this last time, but I'd never seen it.

I actually liked how they fleshed out the villains a little more in the series.

I'm mad that the Asriel episode got cut though. I want to know where he got his army from. In the books he goes through the portal alone and then suddenly he has this huge army out of nowhere. Hopefully they get a chance to make it at some point.

I'm not really feeling this series as much as the first. I'm actually enjoying the Magesterium scenes a lot more than the 'main' story. Anything that happens in Will's Oxford I basically tune out.
